Recap: What Wealth Really Is

Deuteronomy 8:18: But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore unto thy fathers.

Wealth is the summation of all tangibles, assets, and resources. Wealth is beyond money. Money is a legal tender for goods and services. Beyond that, money is useless. But there is honour, capacity, and many things that make for wealth beyond paper currency.

The elements covered in previous sessions:

  • Element 1 Seeking God
  • Element 2 Covenant
  • Element 3 God's love priority, also called first things first
  • Element 4 Fire
  • Element 5 The Holy Spirit
  • Element 6 Prayer

Power is capacity. Power is leverage. When a man has power, he has access. Access is having leverage into unrestricted areas. Access means permits and advantage. Power is access.

Element 7: The Honor System

A man who wants to access wealth must understand the system of honor.

1 Timothy 5:17: let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and doctrine.

You cannot access wealth if you do not understand the honor system. Anytime God wants to elevate a man, God will bring an occasion, a situation that will warrant honor being extracted from the recipient, so that the man who is a custodian of grace can release what he carries, and by reason of that there can be an intervention.

From the age of twelve, Jesus was already anointed. He was already sitting with teachers and doctors of the law, engaged in conversation. He was already inclined to his calling. But until the age of thirty he was not released. Why? It needed a man called John the Baptist. There was a system. Jesus had to come under John to honor him.

The one for whom a way was prepared had to come under the one who prepared the way and honor him. John dipped him, put him in the water and brought him out, and then heaven opened. From the age of twelve, heaven never opened. From thirteen, heaven did not open, until a system was put in place where a man had to be honored. Even though Jesus said let it be so to fulfill all righteousness, your righteousness is not fulfilled until the honor system is in place.

A woman in 2 Kings 4 said she perceived that Elisha was a holy man of God. For a woman to say she picked this in the spirit means she was a woman of the spirit, a woman of prayer, a woman who served God. But she had no child. Despite her ability to see into the realms of the spirit, she could not see what would bring a child, until God fashioned a provision, a system where a man had to be honored. And when she honored him, the Bible says by this time next year she had a son.

Hebrews 13:17: obey them that rule over you and submit yourselves, for they watch over your souls and continually guard your spiritual wealth as they give an account of their stewardship. Let them do this with joy, not grief, for that would be of no benefit to you.

When spiritual leaders are made to lead in grief and groaning, it is not profitable for the congregation. The honor is for your good. This is not for the prophet or the man of God. It is for the one doing the honoring.

Philippians 4:15-17: Paul said no church communicated with him concerning giving except the Philippians. Giving and receiving is a communication. Anytime you give, you are saying something. Every act of giving is an utterance. He said: not because I desire a gift, but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

The world is becoming more terrible because technology and the younger generation have structured a way where fathers are dishonored. So nothing is covering them. Any little attack touches them. The honor system is not old-fashioned. It is the covering.

David's key to acceleration is found in 1 Samuel 24:6 and 1 Samuel 24:10. When Saul was sleeping in the cave, and David's servants urged him to kill Saul, David said: the Lord forbid that I do this thing unto my master, the Lord's anointed. Even though Saul had attempted to cut off David's head twenty-one times, David would not stretch forth his hand against the Lord's anointed.

In 2 Samuel 1:3-16, when a stranger came to tell David that Saul was dead and that he had finished him off at the point of death, David said: how were you not afraid to stretch forth your hand to destroy the Lord's anointed? David called one of the young men and said, go near and fall on him. He had the man executed. Thy blood be upon thy head, for thy mouth has testified against thee, saying I have slain the Lord's anointed.

There are discussions that must not enter your ear. You do not casually dismiss a negative report about your covering. You bluntly refuse it, because the angels of that man are hearing the discussion.

Element 8: Dedicated Service in the House of God

Luke 4:16: he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up, and as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day. That means if Jesus were on earth physically on Sunday, he would not be at home. It was his custom.

Hebrews 10:25: not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the day approaching.

Right from the days of Paul, people were arguing about whether they needed to gather together. But the scripture is clear: do not forsake the assembling.

Anytime the church gathers according to Hebrews 12:22, something significant happens in the spirit realm. Gathering becomes Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. This place before God, once gathered, becomes elevated. Jerusalem means a city of peace.

When gathered, there is an innumerable company of angels. Angels are the only beings that have no race. No two angels look alike. They are countless. When gathered, the general assembly of the firstborn whose names are written in heaven is present. All three arms of government are represented: the legislature, the judiciary, and the executive. Isaiah 33:22: the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king. When the church gathers, laws are being made, interpreted, and endorsed in the spirit.

When you sit in church, even without speaking, the blood of Jesus is talking. Hebrews 12:24: to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things. The blood is speaking peace, health, wealth, fruitfulness, advancement, enlargement.

Every time you come to church, you are also representing a constituency. You do not carry only yourself. You carry people connected to you. You are a legislator for them.

Element 9: The Voice of God

One reason David was the only king to win all his battles, sixty-six battles with no loss, was that he inquired from God before going out. Others had a prophet. David had a prophet, a priest, and a seer. In case one missed, another could not miss. Whenever he asked a question and all three said the same thing, he went out. And there was no victory in Israel under David that came without that template.

Genesis 3:8: they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. The voice of God was walking. A voice is heard, not seen. But scripture says this voice was walking. That tells you those who hear the voice of God are always in motion.

  • The voice of God commands motion. When life has been stagnant and stunted, it is because the voice of God is absent. You must be intimate with the voice of God, because his voice is the key to motion.
  • The voice of God is ascension. Revelation 11:12: they heard a great voice from heaven saying come up hither, and they ascended up to heaven in a cloud and their enemies beheld them. Everyone who hears God goes up. The voice of God is ascension, acceleration, progression.
  • The voice of God handles contention. Revelation 12:10: I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, now is come salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ, for the accuser of our brethren is cast down. When you hear God, he will teach you and show you how to squeeze your enemies cheaply. He will show you the unprotected forehead of Goliath. Your enemies reveal your eminence. If nobody troubles you, it means you are nobody. Ripe mango attracts stones.

You must hear God constantly. Never get too comfortable with the last instruction. God told Abraham to take Isaac to Mount Moriah and sacrifice him. When Abraham got to that mountain, he had to ask God what to do, and God said do not sacrifice him. If he had depended only on what he heard when God first spoke, he would not have known when the voice of God had moved on. The same God who said to kill, hours later said do not kill. This is why constant sensitivity is required.

God never changes his mind. When the players change themselves, God will change strategy but still achieve his goal. What God said he will do, he will do. If God says he will heal, he will heal. But when those who are the recipients deny themselves access, God will change strategy but still achieve his goal.

To hear the voice of God, Revelation 1:10: I was in the spirit on the Lord's day and heard behind me a great voice as of a trumpet. To hear the voice of God, you must be in the spirit. Walk in the spirit, live in the spirit. Once you live in the spirit, you hear the voice of God.

Father, I receive grace to live in the spirit. Whatever stands as an infiltration, a pollutant, a restraint to accurate receptibility of the voice of God, let that thing be decimated to the ground. I exercise dominion over the elements that wither passion and wrestle with dedication to service. Let the mercy of God speak for everyone who has been around an atmosphere where spiritual authority has been condemned. Whatever has been lost to dishonor for spiritual coverings, let it be restored, in Jesus name.

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
