The Problem with Free Money

Wealth and riches are in the house of the righteous — Psalm 112:3. If you are not seeing the wealth God said is in your house, it is because you have not birthed it into manifestation. One of the biggest problems in Africa is free money. Any society that works is a society where free money does not exist. In working nations, anything you get, you work for. Free money and quick money are the biggest disasters of nations.

In Proverbs 13:11, the Bible says any wealth gotten by vanity shall diminish. Accidental wealth cannot be replicated. Wealth gotten by labour can be replicated. A waste of time is a waste of life.

The Law of Branding

The first law of creating wealth is the law of branding. A businessman is first a man. Branding is the foundation of wealth creation. Your attitude and character determine your productivity. Nobody just sees the business — they see the business through the businessman. Until you are conscious of becoming a brand, even prayer cannot fully help you.

Branding is how the person involved in the business chooses to deliberately build a name. First Bank of Nigeria has been standing since 1894 — that is branding. They set a standard and they did not cut corners.

• Under-promise and over-deliver. Tell them five days when you know it will be ready in two. When it is done in three, call them early — that is how you keep a customer.
• Quality takes time. It is better to be slow and sure than to be fast and fall. Build things that can last.
• Character is everything. The five C's of credit begin with character. When you cannot be trusted, you are not ready to be a brand.

Businesses do not rise by compromise. They rise by brand consciousness.

Every person born has an endowment. There is something God has given you that can make you prosperous. Everyone is endowed — some in speech, some in their hands, some in their mind. You must first discover that endowment. The second thing that empowers endowment is skill.

Skill is when talent is polished. Skill is when gift is upgraded. You know what God has given you, but you must go and learn about it. You must over-prepare. When talent is upgraded, great things happen.

Daniel 1:17 — God gave them knowledge and skill in all wisdom and learning. Daniel 9:22 — Knowledge is to know what to do. Skill is to know how to do it.

Don't just say it is a gift. Get some training. There are people today who are talented but not skillful.

The Law of Intellect

Proverbs 8:10-11 — Receive instruction and not silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies. This law has three elements:

1. Divine Direction

   Proverbs 3:5-6 — Trust in the Lord with all your heart and he shall direct your path. After you acquire skill and are building a brand, you need divine instruction — to ask God what to do. Not all good ideas are God's idea. When money comes in bulk, let it cool down. Go and pray. Ask God what to do with it.

2. Knowledge — Acquiring Information

   Knowledge is to acquire information. Scholastic wisdom is the wisdom you get from education, but life itself is a school. Acts 7:22 — Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty in words and deeds. Those who say Moses was a stammerer have not read carefully. It was fear that made Moses speak with hesitancy when God called him — not a permanent condition. Learn from life. Learn from people's actions.

3. Financial Wisdom

   Money has a language. Not all giving attracts blessings. There are some people God wants to go through a process, and when you bail them out prematurely you short-circuit their growth. You must learn to distinguish generosity from enabling.

   Car is not an investment. It is a staff — an expense. Land and gold are investments. A land cannot have an accident. Even if a building burns, the land remains.

   Before you build your house, let the source of your income be solid — Proverbs 24:27. Plan before you build. Produce first, then spend.
