The Dark Places of the Earth

Psalm 74:20 — Have respect unto the covenant. For the dark places of the earth are full of habitations of cruelty.

David was reminding God of the covenant he made with his children — a covenant of safety, deliverance, protection, peace, and victory. And the reason he invokes it is the following: the dark places of the earth are full of habitations — plural habitations — of cruelty.

Cruelty is to treat someone in an unfair way. It is injustice to another. It is to inflict pain on people, to carry out acts of wickedness against them. Nothing good comes out of darkness. Whether you are a modern person who finds this superstitious or not — there are dark places on this earth. Darkness harbors workers of iniquity.

There is no gentle way of arresting wickedness. None. There is no gentle way of cleaning a septic tank.

The Habitation Isaiah Described

Isaiah 61:1 — The spirit of the Lord God is upon me because he has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek. He has sent me to bind the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound.

Apart from the physical prisons we know about, there are spiritual prisons where people are tied down. It is a tragedy when your hands are tied in the prison. It is a tragedy when your virtues are caged. It is a tragedy when someone has been put on the sickbed inside the prison.

These dark places are everywhere — in the father's house, in the mother's house, in the neighborhood, in the company, in the office, in the marketplace. But there is a special prison, a special habitation in the dark places, where mercy is an alien word. Compassion does not exist there. Wickedness is the order of the day. That gathering, its specialty is cruelty and destruction.

That gathering is a parallel judiciary. They judge right to be wrong and wrong to be right. People are crying there day and night. It is the largest prison on earth. There, decisions are taken to eliminate, to destroy, to stagnate. Winners are rubbish there. Flying eagles are shot down.

What Ezekiel Saw

Ezekiel 8:6-12 — God took Ezekiel to a hole in the wall. He dug further and there was a door. Inside, he saw every form of creeping things and abominable beasts and all the idols of the house of Israel portrayed upon the wall. Seventy elders stood with censers, burning incense. And God said, son of man, have you seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, the Lord sees us not.

This society — this special prison — is what you call the coven. The coven is an invisible society. It is the habitation of wicked spirits and satanic agents. Its inhabitants include both human beings and demons, principalities and agents. They have their meetings everywhere — in the forest, in houses, on trees, in neighborhoods.

There is a coven judgment. There is a coven decree. There is a coven assignment. It is a satanic house of parliament.

What the Coven Loots

The coven loot power to prosper. They loot blessings. They loot success. They loot skills. They loot glory. They loot fame, understanding, confidence, joy, peace, wealth, health, strength, and fortune. They seize these things and store them.

This is why the Bible says no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn. That judgment — the tongue rising against you — takes place in the coven. That is where their judiciary is.

Every family idol is an extension of a particular coven. Every demon is an agent of a particular coven. Every diabolical act of magic or sorcery is a craft of a particular coven.

What Must Be Done

You need to do more than recover yourself from this habitation. You have to recover your assets — because they guard their treasures. You need anointing and violence to break in and remove what belongs to you.

To do this:

• Surrender your life to Jesus
• Repent from every known sin
• Pray for revelation — that God would show you the hole in the wall
• Prayerfully pull down and destroy the coven
• Recover your stolen materials
• Forbid re-gathering
• Destroy every information about you in their register

Prayers have to be strategic. Specific. You cannot just pray all over the place. Today, it is the dark places we face.
