The Power of Remembrance

2 Peter 1:12 — I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though you already know them and are established in this present truth.

The meaning of remembrance is that you already know it. But it is negligence not to put you in remembrance. We don't believe what we hear. We believe what we hear repeatedly. That is why faith comes by hearing and hearing. And that is why it says let us hold fast the things that we have heard, lest they slip through our hands.

Faith is a weapon. Faith is critical. The Bible says: this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. When Jesus was praying for Peter before the trial, He said: I have prayed for you that your faith fail not. You may have heart failure. You may have brake failure. Don't have faith failure. No matter what else fails in your life, so long as faith does not fail, you will come out. In Ephesians 6, Paul says above all — the Greek meaning is above all — taking the shield of faith.

The Law of Knowledge

The first law of faith is the law of knowledge. There are three things you must know:

  1. Knowledge of God's nature — God is good

God is good all the time. God is not good most of the time. God is good all the time. If anything evil happens, God knows how to make it work together for our good — but that does not mean God was the one who initiated it. God did not make you sick so that you could learn faith. God simply used the occasion of that sickness to teach you faith. The teacher of the church is the Holy Spirit. It was the Holy Spirit's job to have taught you faith if you had taken out time to study before the sickness came. God is not using poverty to teach you humility.

  2. Knowledge of God's will

You must know what is in your inheritance. If your father wrote a will giving you a house and properties, it is your responsibility to know that will — and the day you know is the day you are free to take what is yours, even if the truth itself has been there all along. It is not the truth that breaks the hold — it is the knowledge of the truth that sets you free. The day you know is the day you are free.

  3. Knowledge of His willingness

God is not only able — He is also willing.

The Law of Speaking

The second law covered is the law of speaking. Speak early — before the need arises. You don't plant a mango seed on the day you need the mango fruits. It is not too early to talk about your children's marriage, your old age, your health, your destiny.

Speak early before you are laid on the bed unconscious. Speak early before the crisis comes. Your words spoken early will continue to work. The words that Jesus spoke before He died brought resurrection.

Say words like: as my days are, so shall my strength be. Even in old age I shall be bearing fruit. Even when my hair is gray, He will carry me. I am going to live old and healthy. Set those words early and let them work ahead of the need.

A tree doesn't eat its own fruit. The anointing placed on a man is not placed for him — it is placed for the people. Don't put a price tag on your anointing. God will bless you with sources you never imagined — but the anointing must flow freely to the people.

Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. Build it, maintain it, speak it, and act it — for the truth that is known becomes the truth that sets free.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank You for the strength of Your word. We declare that because the truth of Your word sets free today, we receive the strength to stand strong even when it is hard, when it is tough, when the answer looks far-fetched — to trust You and You alone, holding You by Your word. Thank You, everlasting Father, in Jesus' precious name.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."

- Apostle Emmanuel Iren
