Grace operates like a joke, yet it is real

I live in a joy bubble. I also live in a grace bubble

Grace operates in my life and it looks like a joke, but it's not a joke, it's real. When I tell my stories they sound like lies, but they're not lies

Testimony: the transplant bill

The first transplant we did was in a research hospital in Maryland. We didn't need to pay for it

When that one failed, we had to go to a hospital in California where we had to pay $1 million

Miraculously, the grace of God brought my bill down from $1 million to $6,000. Not $60,000, not $600,000. $6,000 is all I paid for a $1 million transplant

It sounds like a lie, but it happened to me. I'm a living, breathing witness of what the grace of God can do in the life of a person

Weakness is not disqualification

Paul discovered that weakness does not necessarily mean disqualification. It can become the place where another strength is revealed, and that is God's strength

God does not require your perfection in order to demonstrate His power. Grace is grace

Illustration: the man who brought his son

The man brought his son to Jesus for healing. He said he believed, but the very next sentence showed unbelief Mark 9:24

He was believing, but a part of him was wondering if it can happen. Did Jesus ignore him because of that? No. Jesus went ahead and honored the small belief and saved his son

God does not need your perfection to show you grace

Grace reigns

Grace doesn't just visit. Grace reigns. It rules

Romans 5:21

Look at Paul's language here. Sin reigned. Sin had authority, sin had power, sin was ruling. Sin behaved like a king. It dominated, it dictated, it controlled. It produced consequences

But then Paul says, grace reigns also. Grace is not presented to us as some frightened little force trying to survive against sin. Grace has a throne

Romans 5:20

Not merely abounded, much more

Grace is bigger than sin. The throne of grace is higher. It is more powerful, more potent, more alive than the throne of sin

  • Your history may be complicated. Grace is greater.
  • Your failure may be great. Grace is greater.
  • Your mistakes may have consequences. Grace is greater.

This does not make sin insignificant. It makes Christ sufficient. We are not saying sin is insignificant. Christ is sufficient, enough for any sin, enough for any failure, enough for any mistake

A word against the accusation

There is a woman here. Before you came to Christ, you had three abortions.

For some reason you have been in Christ but you can't seem to move forward, because Satan spends all the time keeping you in the realm of accusation.

He says your mistakes are too much. I think you are married and you don't have a child. He is saying to you that it's because of your abortion. It's a lie.

The time for you to have a child is now. God is releasing you from that horrible stranglehold of Satan, where he has accused you.

I don't care how many abortions you had. Jesus is sufficient.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."

- Apostle Emmanuel Iren
