The Word Is a Person, Not Just a Sound

John 1:1 — in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us. 1 John 5 — there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost.

Before the word became a declaration, the word was a person. There are those who know the vocal part of the word — they can vocalize and verbalize it — but they don't know the word as a person. And this is why some declarations don't work.

When the word is spoken with this understanding, it is not depending on vocal dexterity — the word is self-fulfilling in its nature. Jesus said: the words I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life. If you close a door, the word will walk through it. The word does not beg for access — it is a spirit. It permeates.

When the word is sent out, God himself goes to accomplish what he alone can accomplish. The scripture says the word will not return void — and it cannot fail, because it is God.

Why the Word Did Not Profit Some

Hebrews 4:2 — for unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them. But the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

The word is powerful — but there is a caveat: the word may not profit those who do not mix it with faith. Sit down and convince yourself that this word will not fail. Receive the word according to what God is saying to you. Don't listen to preaching as an observer — listen for how the word applies to you personally.

Don't Sleep on the Word

Peter had a prophecy over his life: "Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." Yet when Peter was in prison, chained, with an execution scheduled for morning — he was asleep. The brethren were the ones praying.

Peter was saved not because he was awake, but because others were praying on his behalf. The lesson: don't sleep on your prophecy. John the Baptist was described as the greatest among those born of women — yet he was beheaded. A great destiny does not automatically protect a person who sleeps on the word.

There is a prophecy over your life. Don't sleep on it. The vision is for an appointed time — wait for it. But do not be passive.

Don't Remove Your Eyes from Jesus

Peter walked on water. The word said to him "come" and he stepped out. He was walking on the water — until he began to look at the waves and the storm. Then fear came, doubt came, and he began to sink.

Right in the presence of the word himself, Peter began to go down. The Lord did not calm the waters for Peter to walk — the waters remained turbulent. But the word said come, and Peter walked on them anyway. Remember who said come to me. Don't put your eyes on men, on circumstances, on the storm.

If your eyes are not on Jesus, they are on the devil. There is nothing called a "me moment" where you take your eyes off the Lord to assess your situation from a neutral place. Whatever you focus on magnifies.

Don't Forget What He Said

When the women arrived at the empty tomb, the angel said: "So you have forgotten what he said — that he would go before you into Galilee." The word was not unfulfilled — they had simply forgotten it.

There is what can be called demonic amnesia. It comes through the atmosphere of overwhelm — when the enemy floods a person with so much pressure that they forget every promise God has ever spoken. Elijah experienced this: he went under the juniper tree and said, "I am not better than my fathers. Let me die." He forgot everything.

When that overwhelm comes, the psalmist's response was: "Lead me to the rock that is higher than I" — Psalm 61:2. Find people in your circle who will not add to the forgetting but will remind you: God is faithful. Our God is an awesome God. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Prophecy Is an Invitation to Warfare

Jesus said to Peter: "Satan has desired to have you" — and why? Because of the prophecy over Peter's life. The devil wants to cut short the agenda of God. He sends traps, haters, overwhelming circumstances — all designed to make the word fail in your life.

But those who know what they are saying understand that the word cannot fail. The prophecy over your life will not fail. No power of hell will obstruct the free course of the word.
