Work and Calling

Jesus was born to do ministry, but before that he was doing carpentry. He wasn't idle. The Bible says, Ecclesiastes 9:10 — whatever your hand finds to do, do it.

If you read scripture, you'll notice God didn't call people to a job. God called them out of jobs. There is not one place in the Bible where God says, "I'm calling you to be a doctor. I'm calling you to be a farmer." God calls people into priesthood.

The idea is this: get a job to finance the work that God has given you.

In other words, use your profession as a vehicle — a doctor using healthcare to evangelize, giving, preaching. When ministry begins, a job funds the vision until God provides another way.

The Idea God Gave You

If you are in a season of transition, trusting God for a job, and you already have an idea — pursue it. 100%.

There is a difference between an idea you generated and an idea God gave you. If God gave it to you, you have work. If he gave you something to do, you already have an assignment. Work towards it with passion.

If God has specifically told you to focus on securing a job first, honour that. But if you don't have that specific direction and he has already given you an idea — that is your assignment. Be very passionate about it.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."

- Apostle Emmanuel Iren
