A New Dawn

Genesis 1:1-5 records the very first dawn. God created the heaven and the earth. The earth was without form and void and darkness covered the face of the deep. The spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, God spoke, and there was light.

Dawn simply means when night becomes day. And for someone in particular, your night is about to become day.

Psalm 30:5 says sorrow may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Dawn means an end to sorrow and the beginning of joy. Because joy comes with sorrow's end, and Nehemiah 8:10 says the joy of the Lord is your strength, a new dawn is also when weakness changes to strength.

What Dawn Means

Dawn means darkness changes to light. Darkness is associated with stagnation. You cannot move when it is dark. When the light returns, movement and progress become possible again. In Acts 3:1-8, there is a man born lame who had been placed on the same spot for 40 years. He had never had promotion. The day God paid him a visit, he was not just walking, he was leaping and praising God. A new dawn means the end of stagnation and the beginning of acceleration.

Dawn means confusion ends. When God created the earth, it was without form, which means formless and confused. But when the first dawn came, confusion gave way to order. In Mark 5:25-34, a woman had a flow of blood for 12 years. What was supposed to be a blessing became a curse. That is the definition of confusion. Proverbs 10:22 says the blessings of the Lord make rich and add no sorrow. Whatever is causing confusion is going to end.

Dawn means emptiness gives way to fullness. The earth was empty before the first dawn. After it, everything came forth abundantly. Fish abundantly, birds abundantly, animals abundantly. In Genesis 18:9-14, Sarah's womb had been empty for 90 years. But when God passed by, a new dawn came and the womb that had been empty for decades suddenly received the visitor of joy.

What Enables the Dawn

Before that first dawn, something happened. The spirit of God moved. When the spirit of God moves, the impossible becomes possible. In Luke 1:26-38, Mary was told she would be pregnant. When she asked how, the answer was that the Holy Spirit would overshadow her. The impossible becomes possible when the spirit of God overshadows you.

When the spirit of God moved across the Red Sea in Exodus 14:21-28, the waters parted. Where there was no way, a way opened. After the enemy pursued them through that same path, it swallowed them all. Whenever the spirit of God moves, those who try to terminate your destiny will be terminated.

When the spirit of God moved in Judges 14:5-6, and a young lion roared at Samson, Samson tore it in two. Anyone from now on who tries to terminate your destiny shall be terminated.

Then God spoke. Psalm 107:20 says he sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions. When God speaks, it is a decree. He never says "maybe this will be." He says let there be light, and there is light. The Bible says the entrance of the word gives light. It penetrates into areas no human being can reach. That is why when he sends his word, he cures the incurable.

Darkness Has a Destroyer

There is someone called the consuming fire, and that is God himself. When the spirit of God moves, forces of darkness lose their hold. In Judges 14:5-6, when the supernatural collided with the natural, the natural had to give way. It does not matter how many forces of darkness have been operating in your life or following you across continents. When the spirit of God moves, they lose their hold.

Colossians 1:12-13 says God can translate you out of darkness into light. In Exodus 14, when God opened the Red Sea, all the generational enemies of Israel were drowned in one night.

God himself looked at the first day and said it was good. Everything about darkness is bad. Everything about light is good. Poverty is bad, wealth is good. Barrenness is bad, fruitfulness is good. Failure is bad, success is good. God wants to turn what is very bad into very good.

There is, however, a door that must be opened. Jesus said in Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in." All that God wants to do in a life can happen when Christ is invited in. If the door remains closed, the darkness remains.
