Series Recap: Foundations of Deliverance

The text for this series is John 8:36 (Amplified) — if the Son sets you free, you are really and unquestionably free.

Part 1 covered:

• The biblical basis for studying Satan and demons — from the Old Testament, the ministry of Jesus, and the early church
• The origin of Satan and his names in scripture
• Satan's two chief objectives: dominion over the saints, and transgenerational allegiance
• Everything Satan does — sickness, poverty, delay, destruction — is a means to those ends, not the end itself

  1. Witchcraft — causing a person to think, act, and speak in error using the tool of deception
  2. Manipulation and control — largely in the realm of the mind; believers can be victims of this
  3. Complete possession — total influence over spirit, mind, and body; a born-again Christian cannot be possessed

• The three access points Satan has to men, including believers:

  1. Covenants — the most powerful because covenants are transgenerational and territorial
  2. Ignorance
  3. Disobedience

Covenants are empowered by altars. An altar is a system of authorization built to ensure that the terms of a covenant keep running even after the initiator is gone.

Every altar is ratified by blood. The altar acts as the battery that powers the covenant — with the precision of a surgeon, it will execute everything as agreed, regardless of geography or generations.

The Flesh: A Clarification

Both covenants and ignorance depend on something in the human vessel to walk through — this is called the flesh. The concept of the flesh has not been thoroughly understood in the body of Christ.

The flesh before salvation (with respect to the unregenerate man):

• Called the sin nature
• A nature of speaking, thinking, acting, and living that will always be against the word of God
• This is the very nature of Satan at work in the spirit, mind, and body of the unregenerate man
• When man fell, he lost the life of God and became an embodiment of the sin nature
• This is exactly what the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus defeated

The flesh after salvation (with respect to the believer in Christ):

• Called self — not the sin nature, but a different dimension
• The inability to intentionally live with the consciousness that everything about you should glorify God

• Self produces the numerous ills that plague believers even after salvation
• The cure is found in Galatians 5:16 — walk in the spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh
• Paul's instruction: set your affections on things above; crucify the flesh daily

Romans 8:1–2 — There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

Administering Deliverance: Three Levels

Complete and total deliverance operates in three levels. Most of what is called deliverance in the body of Christ is only the first. Jesus himself taught that it is possible for a man to be temporarily free of demon spirits, only for them to reinforce and return — leaving that man in a worse state than before.

Level One: Casting Out Spirit Influences

The first level of deliverance is casting out the spirit influences over your life and behind your challenges.

Demons do not only possess and influence men — they can possess conditions, situations, businesses, and territories.

James 2:26 — For as the body without the spirit is dead...

This principle reveals that everything alive — whether a man, a condition, or an institution — has a spirit giving it life. If there is no righteous spirit, Satan will occupy that vacuum and the body (business, family, territory) will begin to act like a demonized person: isolated, declining, in confusion.

• A health condition may begin as a biological reality, but a spirit can enter it — and when that happens, medicine becomes ineffective against it
• A financial condition that defies economic laws has a spirit behind it
• A territory can be possessed, and the physical structures will reflect the spiritual state of the place

In casting out demons, you are not only casting them from men — you can cast demons out of conditions.

Luke 13:10–16 — A woman had a spirit of infirmity for 18 years. She was bowed together and could not lift herself. Jesus said, Woman, thou art loosed — then laid his hands on her and she was made straight immediately. Jesus later explained: Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan had bound for 18 years, be loosed?

Many health and medical conditions have demons behind them. The spirit is identified not by its name, but by what it does — a spirit of infirmity, a deaf and dumb spirit, a spirit of divination.

Luke 11:14 — Jesus was casting out a devil, and the victim was dumb. When the devil was gone out, the dumb spake.

Anything in your life that is not speaking — influence, honor, favor, fruitfulness — there is a spirit. When that spirit is cast out, that thing begins to speak.

The two expressions used in scripture when expelling demons are:

• Rebuked — as in Luke 9:42, Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit
• Cast out — as in Mark 1:25, he commanded the unclean spirit to come out

Acts 16:16–18 — A girl with a spirit of divination followed Paul and cried out truths about him for many days. Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit — not the girl — I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ, come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

When deliverance happens in this first level, it is often instantaneous — and its effects are wider than the one issue you prayed about. The same spirit oppressing a person in one area is usually sitting on multiple areas of their life simultaneously. When that one spirit goes, doors open on multiple fronts at once.

Level Two: Deliverance Through Transformation

Mark 5:15 — After Jesus cast the legion from the demonized man, the people came and saw him sitting and clothed and in his right mind.

The demon had been cast out — but the man's mind was being renewed as he sat with Jesus. The demon can leave but the mind can still be wrong. This is the second level: deliverance through transformation, by the word of God.

1. Reorientation of your spiritual understanding — bringing a new framework for how you think, perceive, and respond

3. Tearing down negative thought patterns that had been doorways for demons

Transformation closes the door of ignorance and empowers the believer to rise above the influence of demons.

Demons do not attach themselves arbitrarily. Before they attack an individual, they construct wrong information that builds a negative mindset. Then they fortify that thought pattern so the victim cannot change. As long as the wrong thought pattern remains, demons can leave and return at will — the door is open.

Proverbs 4:23 — Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.

Romans 12:2 — Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Renewal and transformation happens through knowledge. All believers need the ministry of the teaching priest — a pastor, apostle, or any ministry committed to the sound, consistent teaching of the word.

The true secret for sustaining deliverance: casting out the spirit can happen in a moment. Transformation takes time. You must sit with the word of God until it cultures your spiritual understanding again. Satan left Jesus for a season and returned — he returns when he finds the door of ignorance still open.

Acts 2:42 — And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and in fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayer.

Starting is not the key. Continuing is the key. The real power of transformation is in your consistent contact with information.

Level Three: The Discipline of Conformity

The third level of deliverance is the discipline of conformity — compliance with the standards of God's word. Adherence to scriptural instructions. Respect for the principles of the kingdom.

Most believers have not been taught that they have an active role to play in maintaining their victory. This discipline involves two things:

1. The enabling grace of God — Philippians 4:13 — I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. You do the doing, but the strength comes from him. You need the enabling grace to sustain the discipline.
2. Your will — The union between enabling grace and your will is what empowers conformity.

Philippians 3:12–16 — This one thing I do: forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto the things that are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus.

The discipline of conformity may involve separating yourself from negative relationships and environments that give demons access to your life.

Deuteronomy 28:1–2 — It shall come to pass, if thou shalt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments, that the Lord thy God shall set thee high above all nations of the earth. All these blessings shall come upon thee.

Joshua 1:8 — This book of the law shall not depart from out of thy mouth; thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do all that is written therein. For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and thou shalt have good success.

Two practical channels of conformity:

1. Your words — Proverbs 18:20–21 — Death and life are in the power of the tongue; they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. You conform by speaking as a child of God. With the heart man believes; with the mouth confession is made. Speak rightly — believers speak carelessly and call death, defeat, and failure to their own lives.
2. Your decisions — Decisions more than conditions decide destiny. The quality of your choices will always be a reflection of your belief systems. If your choices are demon-attracting, review the information shaping your understanding and paradigm. You do not choose consequences — you make decisions, and the decisions themselves carry attached consequences.

Deuteronomy 30:15–19 — I have set before you this day life and good, death and evil. Choose life, that thou and thy seed may live.

The discipline to apply and live by the truth you have found is the last step to complete deliverance.

John 13:17 — Now that ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Weapons of Victory

Having established the three levels of deliverance, there are weapons that help the believer establish and maintain victory. The first layer is the whole armor of God.

The Whole Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18 Amplified)

The assignment of the whole armor is maintenance — these are largely preventive strategies that help the believer maintain victory already established.

1. Truth — integrity and moral courage; tighten the belt of truth around your loins
2. The breastplate of righteousness — an upright heart, moral rectitude, and right standing with God
3. The preparation of the gospel of peace — because your heart is stayed on the gospel, there is an immunity that follows you. Daniel 12:3 — they that turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars forever
4. The shield of faith — a system of defense that quenches all the fiery darts of the wicked
5. The helmet of salvation — awareness of your oneness with Christ and your positional advantage. Ephesians 6:10 (Amplified) — be empowered through your union with him, draw your strength from him
6. The sword of the spirit — the word of God
7. Prayer — praying always, in every season, in the spirit, with all kinds of prayer and supplication

Three Weapons That Establish and Manifest Victory

These weapons do not merely maintain — they establish and manifest the victory over Satan, regardless of the curse, covenant, or yoke.

Weapon One: The Word of God

Hebrews 1:3 — He upholds all things by his powerful word.

Ecclesiastes 8:4 — Where the word of a king is, there is power; who may say unto him, what are you doing?

Isaiah 55:11 — My word shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please and shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Psalms 107:20 — He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

1 John 2:12–14 — I write to you young men because you are strong and the word of God abides in you.

The word of God activates the power of God. The power of God is like a nuclear missile — but the word is the cord that activates it.

1 John 5:14–15 — This is the confidence we have in him: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, we know that we have the petitions we desired of him.

Weapon Two: The Name of Jesus

Mark 16:17 — These signs shall follow them that believe: in my name they shall cast out devils.

The name of a man is not merely a means of identification — it is a representation of his office. When Jesus was raised and exalted:

Ephesians 1:21 — He was raised far above principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world but in that which is to come.

When you stand in the name of Jesus, exactly what would have happened if Jesus himself were present is what should happen now. You are not calling letters — you are invoking an office.

To walk in the name does not mean to recite the letters J-E-S-U-S. It means to function with the consciousness of that office — his lordship. Satan does not respect a Christian on their own. But he will respond when that office is invoked.

When Jesus gave us his name, he gave us the name that was conferred after the coronation — the name above every name. That office, properly engaged, opens every door that is designed to open to it.

Weapon Three: The Blood of Jesus

Leviticus 17:11 — For the life of the flesh is in the blood.

Two foundational truths about blood:

• Blood represents life — the blood of anything carries the life of that thing. And this life is in levels.
• Blood is ransom — blood has always been used in scripture as a ransom: the payment made to release someone from captivity. Blood is currency in the realm of the spirit.

Proverbs 26:2 — As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not stand.

A curse that has found purchase does so because there is a cause — a legal basis. Most issues of curses, yokes, and covenants are legal issues in the spirit. The name and the word are powerful — but when it comes to matters of legality, the blood is the instrument of settlement.

The blood of Jesus is not just sufficient to pay for sin. It is more than sufficient — it is an overpayment.

How the blood works legally:

• When Satan stands as the accuser of the brethren, claiming legal access through ancestral covenants, the blood is your response
• When you invoke the blood, you disappear from the scene in the spirit — Jesus stands in your place
• Satan's accusation has no standing against Jesus, the sinless one — the only one killed who had done nothing wrong
• The blood of an innocent man cries — but instead of crying for vengeance, the blood of Jesus cries for release of the guilty

Ephesians 1:7 — We have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace.

To redeem means to buy back — to reclaim ownership, to compensate for a default. His blood is proof that he died. And when he died, those joined to him died with him. When Satan comes to accuse and the blood is invoked, the case has already been judged. The criminal died. The price has been paid. The receipt is the blood.

I have been crucified with Christ. When he died, I died. Satan has no legitimate ground.

The Communion: Engaging the Mystery of the Blood

John 6:48–58 — I am the bread of life. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof and not die. He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood dwelleth in me, and I in him.

In theology, this is called the doctrine of interpenetration — the mystery by which two persons become one. The communion reenacts that oneness. It enforces that anything not in Christ should not be found in you.

1 Corinthians 11:23–26 — The Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread, gave thanks, broke it and said: Take, eat — this is my body, which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me. And after supper he took the cup, saying: This cup is the new testament in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

The communion is not powerful as a religious ritual. It is an ordinary element until taken with understanding. When taken with revelation, a cry rises from heaven: What price did I not pay? On what legal basis are you still oppressing this one? And on that legal foundation, liberty is declared.

Father, by the blood of Jesus, every legal access Satan has over my life and destiny — through ancestral covenants, through ignorance, through disobedience — I invoke the blood and declare that access broken now. Every curse, every yoke, every ordinance of the fathers that has tied down my destiny — blotted out. Nailed to the cross. By the blood of the eternal covenant, I am redeemed. In Jesus name.

Every season of weeping, shame, embarrassment, and retrogression — come to an end in the name of Jesus. Everything that has left my life that should not have left — opportunities, resources, relationships, mantles — by the blood, by the name, by the word, I call you back. Restoration by the spirit of God.

Every spirit of infirmity, of untimely death, of poverty and lack — the Lord rebukes you. You have no legal hold over my life. The blood speaks. By the power of the name of Jesus, every altar powered by darkness that sustains negative patterns over my life and lineage — be destroyed now. Every covenant of delay, retrogression, and failure — be broken.

My place in life and destiny that has been hijacked — I take it back. I take my place. Patterns of negative occurrence that followed my family from generation to generation — by the blood of Jesus, come to an end now. I sanctify my dreams, my visions, and my prophetic experiences. No more manipulation, no more confusion.

In the name of Jesus, I decree that I will never go down again.

Assignment and Closing

• Fast on Thursdays
• Every night between 11 PM and 5 AM, choose any one hour and pray — in the spirit if you do not know what to pray
• The miracle service continues this week — come prepared with communion and open heart

The grace that keeps will keep you. The grace that lifts will lift you. From this night, your journey with God will be from one victory to the other. Be blessed in Jesus name.
