Every Believer Is a Culture Influencer

Jesus said "You are the salt of the earth" — not pastors, not influential Christians specifically. Every follower of Jesus. This carries a prophetic significance: as long as you are in Christ, you have something to offer the world. Every unbeliever, no matter how rich or famous, has something they need from you.

He did not say you will be or should be. He said you are. This is an ontological statement — your identity before it becomes your activity. Embrace it before you walk it out.

A city set on a hill cannot be hidden — it is a sin to hide. In any office, any family, any community where you have spent years and nobody has been challenged or made curious about God, something is wrong. Salt that cannot season is no different from sand.

Moral Indifference — The Overlooked Sin

Isaiah 5:20 says woe to them who call evil good and good evil. Two categories of people fall under this:

• Those who actively rebrand evil as good — embellishing, repackaging, giving fresh names to iniquity
• Those who say "I think it's wrong, but I'll mind my business" — this is moral indifference, and many Christians are guilty of it

Romans 1:32: "Who knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practise such things are deserving of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practise them." You cannot change people you are not trying to influence.

Sins of Commission and Omission

The story of the Good Samaritan is instructive. The priest and the Levite did not do anything wrong. Jesus's problem with them was that they also did not do anything right. James 4:17: "To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin."

Being salt doesn't just mean avoiding wrongdoing. You are still wrong if you don't do right.

The Power Behind Saltiness

This is not merely good advice — it is a kingdom reality. John 1:4: "In him was the life, and the life was the light of men." Light is not just good behaviour; it overflows from the substance of a redeemed nature. That is why there is no other way to do church but with power. The prophecy of the Messiah was: "My people shall be willing in the day of his power." He changes nature — not just behaviour.

• You are not just called to do salt — you are salt
• God used Moses, Daniel, Nehemiah, Esther — through demonstrations of power, through policy, through advocacy — but always the same Spirit
• There is a reason you are where you are, with the exposure you have

Fervent in Spirit — Not Mediocre Christianity

Romans 12:11: "Never be lacking in diligence, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord." It is not just what you do — it is the intensity with which you do it. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man makes power available. Jesus prayed with sweat like droplets of blood. Once in a while, pray that way.

The communication of your faith must be effectual — evident to all around you. Everyone should be able to acknowledge the good thing that is in you in Christ.
