Is The Tongues Gift For Everyone? (100 Days Of Discipleship — Day 71) by Apostle Emmanuel Iren: MP3 Download & Sermon Notes
The Promise Is To You, Your Children, And All That The Lord Our God Shall Call
lightbulb Message Summary - Key Nuggets
- It Was Always God's Intention for All: Moses said "Oh that all the Lord's people were prophets" (Numbers 11:29). The Levitical restriction existed because Israel exempted themselves — not because God intended it.
- Joel's Prophecy — All Flesh, No Exceptions: Joel 2:28-29 — God would pour His Spirit on all flesh. The demography listed was not categorising gifts but emphasising that nobody would be left out.
- 120 at Once — The Significance of Pentecost: In 4,000 years of Old Testament history, you could count the Spirit-filled on one hand. Then 120 at once on the day of Pentecost. Peter said: this is what Joel prophesied.
- No New Testament Exception: In every recorded infilling of the Spirit — Acts 2, Acts 10, Acts 8 — nobody was left out. The Holy Spirit does not check your bank account or your gender.
- Only Bad Teaching Shuts You Out: If they tell you it's not for you and you believe it, you exclude yourself. But the word of God says: it is for all flesh.

God's Original Intention — Everyone
When Moses chose 70 elders and two were absent from the camp, all 70 were still filled with the spirit and prophesied — including the two who were away. When Joshua came to report those prophesying outside the camp, Moses made a remarkable statement: "Oh, that all the Lord's people were prophets, and that the Lord would put His spirit upon them!" (Numbers 11:29)
God's original intention was for all His people to be prophets. Israel was supposed to be a nation of priests, above all nations of the earth. The restricted Levitical priesthood existed only because when they heard the thunder and saw the fire at Sinai, they told Moses: "You go speak with God and tell us what He says." They exempted themselves. God accommodated that — but it was never the design.
Joel's Prophecy — All Flesh Means All Flesh
Joel 2:28-29: "I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh. Sons and daughters will prophesy. Old men shall dream dreams. Young men shall see visions. Upon menservants and maidservants I will pour my spirit."
Joel was not making a demographic distribution of gifts — he was being poetic to emphasise that nobody would be left out: young or old, male or female, master or servant, rich or poor. All flesh means all flesh.
The Significance of 120 at Pentecost
In approximately 4,000 years of Old Testament history, you could count on your hands those who were filled with the Spirit. It was a once-in-a-generation phenomenon. Then on one day, 120 people were filled simultaneously. Peter stood up and said: "This is what Joel prophesied." The New Testament promise is not restricted — it is expanded.
No New Testament Exception — Ever
Search every instance of Spirit-infilling in the New Testament:
- Acts 2 — "They were ALL filled and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance." Not some. All.
- Acts 10 — Cornelius's house. The Holy Spirit fell on ALL who heard the word — even the servants (Acts 11:15). The Holy Ghost does not check your bank account, your gender, or your background.
- Acts 8:18 — Simon the sorcerer SAW that through the laying on of hands, the Holy Ghost was given — repeatedly, without exception. That observable consistency is what moved him to offer money for the ability. If any had been left out, he would not have been so impressed.
1 Corinthians 14:26: "Whenever you come together, each of you has a tongue." Not some of you. Each.
Only Bad Teaching Shuts You Out
The only thing that can prevent you from receiving the Spirit is being taught it is not for you — and believing it. The Holy Spirit is not guilty of classism, gender segregation, or denominational bias. It is for you.
Every stronghold of false teaching that convinced you the gift of the Spirit is not for you — I break it in the name of Jesus. The promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that the Lord our God shall call. All flesh. It is for you.
