The Meaning of Rehoboth
In Genesis 26, the word Rehoboth came into being because of the oppositions suffered by Isaac. The Philistines had covered the wells that Abraham dug. But God blessed Isaac and said, "I will be with you, I will bless you, I will perform the oath."
If you have ever been opposed, delayed, negated, or had things work against you fiercely — you are a candidate of Rehoboth. The well is not outside in the environment. Jesus said to the woman at the well, the water I will give you shall be in you — a well. So you can cover what you feel is my well in the environment. But I have a well on my inside. If you cannot kill me, another well will arise.
Wells of wisdom on the inside. Wells of favour on the inside. Wells of access on the inside. Wells of victory on the inside.
The Wall Was Not Raised for You — But It May Be Because of You
In the book of Joshua, when the children of Israel approached Jericho, the wall had been existing before they came. The city simply locked its gates. In destiny, there are walls raised 10 or 20 years before, because of someone who would come later.
Do not fall for the cheap lie that this wall is not because of you. What if it was raised specifically to confine you? What if systems were built to make your prophecy look like a lie? Every system raised to confine you — let it be broken right now.
The Captain with the Drawn Sword
In Joshua 5:13-15, Joshua saw a man standing with a sword drawn in his hand. Joshua asked, "Are you for us or for our adversaries?" And he replied, "Nay, but as captain of the Lord's host am I now come."
The secret of the captain of the Lord's host was that his sword was not sheathed. We have believers with swords, but their sword is inside its sheath. What makes you a captain is not that you have a sword — what makes you a captain is that you have a sword that is drawn.
How do you know a believer with a drawn sword? A believer with the word of God in their mouth:
- When told "they have gathered against you" — they say, "Indeed they shall gather, but because their gathering is not of the Lord, they shall fall for our sake."
- When told "this is what runs in your family" — they reply, "It is by God that all the families of the earth are named."
- When told "evil is coming against you" — they declare, Psalm 91:1: "He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
The captain of the Lord did not even use the sword. But Joshua fell. Draw your sword — and they will fall.
Sight in Destiny Is a Choice
The Lord said to Joshua, "See — I have given into your hand Jericho and the king thereof." But Joshua was still outside the walls. If he opened his eyes to see naturally, he would see only the wall. But God told him what to see.
God does not see you from where you are. He sees you from where you shall be. That is why we call him El Roi — the God who sees. He is asking you to see beyond the wall. See beyond the wall. Sight in destiny is a choice — he asks Jeremiah, "What do you see?" He asks Zechariah, "What do you see?"
Go Around in Silence — Then Shout
God told Joshua to go around Jericho seven times. For six days, no one was to say anything. Going around Jericho while keeping silent is not natural. There are days the heart is full and you want to say something. The Lord says: don't say anything.
If it is not the word of God, keep quiet. If what you say will not accelerate your destiny, keep quiet. If it will take you back to where you're coming from, keep quiet. If it will make nonsense of the prophecies you have released over your head, keep quiet.
Some of our tongues need to be retrained — retrained into remembering we are not victims, not failures, not what we have done. God literally takes nine months to retrain your lips. And on the last day, all he wants is a shout. When a new season is here — shout like you know it is already happening.
Father, whatever families have waited for — at the sound of this amen, let it become their reality. In less than four weeks, carry them as your reference. Receive it right now. In Jesus name.
The Lord has made room for you. No more restrictions. No more constraints. No more reduction. The Lord has made room for you. In the name of Jesus — Rehoboth!
