Spiritual Midwives Wanted

The text is Exodus 1:15–21 — the Hebrew midwives Shiprah and Puah.

Pharaoh commanded them: when you do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, if the child is a son, kill him. If a daughter, let her live. But the midwives feared God and did not obey Pharaoh. They saved the male children alive. God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mighty.

In destiny, there are only three positions:

• Pregnant — carrying a vision, a prophecy, a dream not yet delivered
• Delivered — you have brought forth something
• Helping someone else deliver — serving as a midwife to another's season

All three can happen simultaneously. A pregnant midwife still helps another woman deliver. On the day she delivers, she will need someone to help her as well.

Find Your Tribe

The Hebrew women went to the Hebrew midwives — not the Egyptian midwives. Had they gone to Egyptian midwives, their babies would have died. The Egyptians had their own midwives with their own instructions: kill the male children.

Not everyone can deliver your baby. Not everyone should know your prophecy. Not everyone who sees your greatness will nurture it. There are midwives who kill — people who see your vision, your dream, your emerging influence, and destroy it. Those connected to you by covenant will not kill what they carry, even when commanded to. The Hebrew midwives said: this is one of us. We are bounded by covenant. We will not kill.

When looking for those who will help carry your season forward, the connection that matters is covenant — not proximity, not sentiment, not history. Covenant says: even if I do not like the face of your child, I will not kill it. Those who do not regard covenant can become the nemesis of your new season.

Kill the Seed, Kill the Harvest

Pharaoh did not target the daughters. He targeted the sons — because the sons are the seed carriers.

His strategy was precise: kill the seed and they will never have a harvest, no matter how much they pray for one.

There is a generation today that is pro-harvest but not pro-seed. Praying for breakthrough while letting seeds die:

• The seed of prayer — scattered before it germinates
• The seed of diligence — abandoned before it multiplies
• The seed of creativity — never planted
• The seed of consistency — killed by distraction

A harvest requires seed in the ground. The question is not "God, when is my harvest coming?" The question is: what seed is on the ground for the harvest? You cannot expect a harvest without first protecting your seeds from Pharaoh's midwives.

When the enemy cannot stop you visibly, he changes strategy — he targets the seeds. He makes you too tired to pray before the seven days are done. He makes you dream that you prayed, so you wake up thinking it was done. He makes the season feel too ordinary for you to recognize that you are ten centimeters dilated and the delivery is imminent.

Do not let the seeds die. Do not abandon the field right before the harvest.
