  • A generation does not want to know how you girded your loins; it wants to see your oil.
  • Destiny responds not merely to strength or stature but to the prophetic and the oil.
  • When your assignment is complete, move on — don't stay to admire your results.

A Season Is Changing — Vacancies Are Open

I want you to know that whenever a season is about to change, a man is needed. Whenever a season is about to change, it is preceded by a warfare. No season ever happens without the word of God being implemented. And whenever a season is about to change, there must be an interaction between the will of God and a prophetic word of declaration. No season changes without the reformation of a man that will transform a destiny.

Having put that at the back of your mind — in this season, when God says arise and take over, it simply means there are vacancies. There are vacancies.

The Text: 2 Kings 9

We read the book of 2 Kings 9:1-10. Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets and said, "Gird up thy loins and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead. Look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, and go in and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber. Then take the box of oil and pour it upon his head and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door and flee and tarry not."

To gird up your loins in Bible times meant to tuck your flowing garment into your belt for freer movement. So when God says "Get up thy loins," he is saying: prepare yourself for speed and agility.

Show Up with Oil

Now hear me clearly. When you get to where Jehu is, don't tell Jehu how you girded up your loins. There is only one thing Jehu is looking for — your oil.

A generation does not want to know how you tied your loins. My generation wants to see your oil, not how you got ready for it. They may not know you, but they cannot deny your oil. People of God, make sure your loins are well girded. But after your loins are well girded, make sure you show up with oil.

There are two kinds of people presented in this passage. On one side there is the son of the prophet — somebody they call a mad man. On the other side, there are captains — men of strength, stamina, social standing, sitting with fellow generals. Destiny is not about strength. Destiny is not just about stature. Destiny is not just about warfare. Sometimes all that destiny responds to is the prophetic and the oil.

The son of the prophet showed up with the word of the Lord. He was able to move the general — to shift a system, to shift a structure. They may argue with you. But when you show up with oil, that kind of oil that moves systems and aligns structures — things shift at the sound of your amen.

The Anointing Changes How You Think

The Lord's instruction was not just to anoint the legs or the feet. He said: pour the oil on his head. There is a reason the Lord reaches for the head. There are too many anointed men that do not think anointed. There are too many anointed men that do not see in an anointed way. There are too many anointed men that do not speak like anointed men. No matter how much they are anointed, until they start thinking like it, until they start talking like it — the anointing will be limited in its expression.

The tragedy of life is being so anointed but speaking like a victim. The oil did not just hit my head. It also hit my mouth. It hit my eyes. I don't see mountains — I see possibility. Every part of me was anointed.

The Bible says in 1 John 2:27, you have received this anointing from the Holy One and the anointing teaches you all things. As Psalm 23 says, "Thou anointest my head with oil." Every time there is an anointing, the Lord reaches for the head. He wants to change what I am thinking. He wants to change what I believe. Because there is an oil on your head, don't let your thinking cover your oil.

The oil did not just go to the front of his head. Some of it went to the back. By reason of the oil upon your life, things you did not see — things you do not know about, things you are not aware of — let the oil of God rise up for you right now. Let the oil of God rise up for you.

Don't let your thinking condemn you. For even if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts. The anointing on your head is bigger than what your mind is telling you.

Outpouring, Not Sprinkling

Notice the instruction was not to sprinkle the oil. He said: pour it. For he says, "In the last days I will pour out of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and daughters shall prophesy."

You are in the middle of a season right now where there is an outpouring. Don't ask the Lord to increase your result — ask the Lord to increase your outpouring. A generation is in need. How will you give them oil if what you got was a sprinkling? God poured on you so that you will have extra to give your generation. In the last days, I will pour.

Pour and Move

After the anointing of Jehu was done, the instruction was: open the door and flee, and tarry not. Don't admire your result. If something great has happened, don't stay there. Move on to something higher. If you have conquered this level, don't remain there.

You are a voice. When you are done with that assignment, and they begin talking about how God moved through you — you will not be there, because that assignment is over. He is saying, "Can I take you now to something bigger, something deeper, something greater, something higher, something more mind-blowing?" Move on.

Thank God for what he did in May. But there is a journey he wants to take you on now. Rise on your feet. Speak in the Holy Ghost.

Every word the Lord has spoken through your mouth — in less than seven days, at the sound of your amen, let there appear a revolution. Let there be a revolution right now.

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
