Discerning God's Emphasis for the Hour

A prophetic service means God can communicate several things at once, and you will hear beyond the preacher's words to your own spirit. It demands sensitivity, not just sincerity, so the word does not slip.

Revelation 3:22

Some conversations are the business of the spirit with all men. Others are between God and his church specifically, matters of the hour.

Marks of the House of God

1. The gathering must be unto the Lord Genesis 49:10
2. A house of prayer for all nations
3. A place of encounters, revelation, and transformation
4. A place where people find strength and help Psalm 20:2

Where it is truly the house of God, you will also find life, illumination, and a word in season.

Three Levels of Anointing

1. The believer's anointing

   • Given the moment you come into Christ, has nothing to do with your function or assignment
   • Its scope is you; it births the character of Jesus in your experience

2. The anointing on your call and office

   • Comes in honor of your call, office, and assignment
   • Makes your witness efficient; it is not necessarily a sign of spiritual maturity or divine approval
   • Can keep working powerfully on your office even while you are personally declining

3. The anointing to drive God's prophetic program

   • Goes beyond answering your call
   • Comes in honor to your capacity to align and discern what God is doing now
   • Explains why some who were once relevant lose relevance when seasons change, not because they backslid, but because they failed to discern the shift

God's Program: Grand and Seasonal

God's grand program never changes. At a macro level it is three-fold:

1. World evangelization, for the unreached
2. Maturity of the saints through discipleship
3. Territorial transformation through the rise of apostolic Christians

Within that unchanging program, God has seasonal mandates, the way a child is parented differently at five, at ten, at eighteen. Elijah needed only faith at Brook Cherith, but relational patience at Zarephath to receive from the widow, same God, different dynamics per season. You can know the grand program at a macro level and still be irrelevant in the moment if you don't discern the season.

Why Press to Know What God Is Doing?

1. Kingdom relevance is tied to alignment

   Your relevance in the kingdom is tied to your ability to align with God's will and program per time and per season. Those who never go out of relevance are those who move when God moves and stand still when he stands still.

2. God's power only flows toward his will

   Find where the will of God is and that is where the power of God is. If healing is what God is doing now and you push a different message, you disconnect from the flow, even if what you're saying is true.

3. Knowing his will is proof of your love

   Investedness in what God is doing is how he measures love, not just prayer or fasting. Loving Jesus means being interested and invested in what he is doing now, not only in what he can give you.

5 Things God Is Emphasizing Right Now

1. Prunings, purifyings, and judgment on the wicked

   Malachi 3:3, John 15:1-5, Amos 3:12

   • God is purifying the vessels he intends to use while judging the wicked
   • Purpose: to enthrone Christ in the heart, bring the flesh to death, and expand spiritual capacity to host what he wants to deposit
   • God's training is a representation of his confidence in you; don't run from it
   • God's enemy is not who you hate, but anyone or anything that becomes a perpetual interruption to the birthing of his program
   • Like a shepherd rescuing two legs and a piece of ear from a lion's mouth, if you can still hear and take a step of faith, there will be restoration

2. Greater levels of illumination

   God is bringing an upgrade in spiritual understanding and restoring soundness to doctrine. A teaching ministry must capture four things to raise a wholesome believer:

   • Doctrine
   • The mysteries and principles of the kingdom
   • Wisdom for living
   • A word-compliant worldview, able to interpret nations, business, and politics through the lens of faith

   Three errors can proceed from a teaching ministry:

   • False teaching and apostasy Second Peter 2:1-2
   • Correct kingdom principles wrongly applied
   • Imbalance

   Be careful with encounters and visions untested by scripture; very few stand the test of time, and Satan can appear as an angel of light.

3. Greater access to spiritual power

   Daniel 3

   • Power is the force that compels compliance, the capacity to effect change consistently
   • Don't just say God can heal or lift, show that he can
   • Endless debate and explanation are often a sign of a bankruptcy of power
   • Pray for power beyond the pulpit: power to preach, to do business, to raise children in this generation, to discern

4. Divine commissionings

   • An emergence of Josephs, Daniels, Esthers, Marys, Bezalels, Elijahs, Elishas, Jeremiahs, Pauls, and Peters entering the reality of their callings
   • A season of training is wrapping up for many into a season of visibility approved by God, not manipulated into by man

   Three strange ministries the church must be careful not to fight:

   • The ministry of women in the likeness of the woman at the well John 4, whose compelling testimony brought a city to Jesus
   • The ministry of the madman of Gadara, an evangelist in chains who brought ten cities to Jesus
   • The ministry of Mary and the women who ministered to Jesus of their substance Luke 8:1-3

   Joseph, your assignment is to preserve, not revenge. Esther, your mandate is not just being beautiful, it is to save God's people.

5. The rise of apostolic models

   Hebrews 6:12, Isaiah 51:1-2

   • Men and women whose lives are references worthy to mentor generations and nations
   • A concept can be taught and understood, but it is best understood when a person personifies it
   • God will raise pastors, business leaders, and competent people across every field as living proof of what is possible
