Wealth and Poverty Rule the World

Proverbs 10:15

The rich man's wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty. The Bible calls poverty a destroyer. This is the Word of God — written by the wisest man who ever lived.

Poverty is not a friend. Poverty is not humility. Poverty is a destroyer.

It exposes the poor to things no one should endure. It makes people do undignified things. It keeps families from getting medical care they need. It puts people in positions where they must sacrifice their dignity for survival. There is nothing God can take glory from in poverty.

Money Is a Defense

Ecclesiastes 7:12

Wisdom is a defense. And money is a defense. The Bible places them side by side. The wealthy can use money to defend their dignity, their home, their health, their family. The poor are defenseless — not because they are less as people, but because they have no resources with which to protect what matters.

Anything can happen to a poor person. Anything. That is what it means to be defenseless.

Poverty Is a Curse — Christ Redeemed You from It

Galatians 3:13

When Adam sinned, God told him: in sorrow you shall eat of the ground. Thorns and thistles it shall bring. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread. That was the introduction of toiling — of scrambling just to survive.

There is no color, no shape, no size of poverty from which God takes glory. Poverty is a core expression of the curse. And Christ, who became a curse for us, redeemed us completely from it.

The Poor Wise Man

Ecclesiastes 9:15-16

A poor wise man delivered an entire city by his wisdom. Yet no one remembered him. The Bible says the wisdom of the poor is despised and his words are not heard. Not because the wisdom was wrong — but because the man had no resources to show for it.

The world measures the value of wisdom by the results it produces. Produce the results. Get the proof. When you have it, people will come.

You are supposed to hate poverty the way you hate cancer. It is a lump. Fight it. You were not designed for it.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."

- Apostle Emmanuel Iren
