Jesus Came to Deliver Us from This Age

Until believers are equipped and trained to engage the battle they are in, their existence will be undermined by the devil. One of the reasons Jesus came into the world was to deliver us from the dominion of darkness — and we cannot deny the presence of that dominion.

John 10:10: "The thief cometh not but for to kill, to steal, and to destroy. But I am come that you might have life and life to the full." Jesus did not just give you life — He gave you life to the full. The evidence of that life is meant to be manifest. But many have received life without manifesting it, because they do not know how to walk in the victory Christ has secured.

Galatians 1:3–4: "Grace to you and peace from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world according to the will of God and our Father."

If you think what Jesus did was just to restore your relationship with God and give you eternal life so you don't go to hell — you are missing a critical dimension. What Jesus did was to give you victory that can be shown and demonstrated in this present evil world. A man who is living life to the full will live in victory in this world, not just in eternity.

The Nature of This Present Evil Age

This present age — this aeon — is called an evil age in scripture. It is not merely an age of bad decisions or poor moral choices. It is an age with a prince, a spiritual architect who has built invisible civilizations designed to hold men and nations in captivity.

When you walk through a city, you may think you are simply in a geographical location. What you may not understand is that within the context of the physical universe, there are spiritual cities — spiritual civilizations that run the souls of men and bring them into diverse captivities.

Scripture reveals this reality:

• Egypt is not merely a geographical location — it is a spiritual civilization with a spiritual prince. Its characteristics: slavery, oppression, the crushing of identity and calling.
• Babylon is a spiritual civilization — its characteristics: seduction, confusion of identity, mixture of the holy and the profane, the pride of self-sufficiency.
• Jezebel is described sitting upon many waters — nations, kings, peoples, tongues. She is a spirit that drives idolatry, sexual immorality, and the destruction of prophetic voices.

Understanding these spiritual civilizations is not about becoming preoccupied with darkness — it is about knowing what you are dealing with so you can defeat it.

The Victory Christ Procured

Colossians 2:14–15: "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross. And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it."

At the cross, Jesus:

• Cancelled every legal document that gave darkness authority over the redeemed
• Stripped the principalities and powers of their legal claim
• Made an open spectacle of their defeat — their shame is permanent

The battle of the age is a battle being fought in the aftermath of a victory that has already been decided. The devil is not fighting to win — he is fighting to keep you from enforcing what Christ has already secured.

How to Walk in Victory in This Age

• Know your legal standing — Colossians 1:13: God has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. This is a legal reality, not an aspiration. You have been transferred. Act like it.
• Engage in spiritual warfare with the weapons of the Spirit — Ephesians 6:10–18: put on the whole armor of God. Truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the sword of the Spirit — which is the Word of God. These are not metaphors. They are the operational tools of a kingdom soldier.
• Enforce the victory through declaration and intercession — Darkness does not leave willingly. It must be commanded. Isaiah 45:11: concerning the work of My hands, command Me. Speak the Word. Declare the victory. Stand in intercession for territories and generations.
• Maintain righteousness — do not give legal ground — Every area of sin, compromise, and willful disobedience gives darkness a legal right to operate in your life. The enemy cannot hold power over a life that has no open doors.

Jesus gave Himself for our sins and to deliver us from this present evil age. He did not leave us as victims of the battle — He made us victors. The battle is real, the enemy is real, but the victory is more real. Stand and enforce it.
