What Is a Miracle Service?

A miracle is divine intervention that transcends the laws of the natural realm. When God occasions an intervention that overrides, suspends, or reverses what the natural realm has established — that is a miracle. It can manifest in your body, your relationships, your career, your territory.

The smallest thing God will do in a miracle service is heal people. But the scope is wider. Some need demons cast out. Others need mental sanity restored. Some need systems that were designed to keep them out to suddenly open. Some need protection from territorial violence and orchestrated danger. A miracle service is not just a healing service.

The Four Contrary Forces

There are four primary forces working against the quality of your existence.

• Satan and demonic powers — real, persistent, and not easily discouraged.
• Wicked and unreasonable men — Galatians 1:4 says one reason the Father gave up Jesus was to deliver us from this present evil age. Corrupt systems, manipulated economies, institutionalized injustice — these are real battles.
• The systems of this world — civilization itself has been hijacked. The policies, the media, the education systems, the food supply — all subject to the operation of darkness. Jesus said in this world you will have tribulation — not as a threat, but as a fact to be overcome.
• Fallen creation — Romans 8:20 says creation is subject to the bondage of corruption. Natural disasters, strange diseases, unpredictable environments — creation itself is in travail.

However, none of these forces is absolute. They can all be overridden. Joshua commanded the sun to stand still at Gibeon and it obeyed. Elisha reversed a national economic crisis with a word. Satan can be bound. Systems can be overturned. The forces available to the believer are superior.

Force One: The Resurrection Power

When Jesus rose from the dead, he made available to every believer a power that defies ultimate failure. John 11:25: I am the resurrection and the life.

At the tomb of Lazarus, everyone was weeping. Everyone had given up. Jesus came and gave thanks — and then shouted with a loud voice: Lazarus, come forth. That was the pattern. Not passivity. Not quiet resignation. Thanksgiving in the midst of crisis, followed by an authoritative declaration.

You do not die when you stop breathing. You die when you give up. Death's primary assignment is to make you surrender. Mary and Martha had already accepted the finality of the situation. Every believer who has given up on their health, their business, their marriage has made the same error — they have died before their time.

The resurrection power operates through the roar. Jesus died as a lamb but rose as a lion. When he came to that grave, there was a sound — the Bible says soldiers heard an earthquake, thunder struck from heaven, the stone rolled away. Resurrection is not quiet. The switch of the resurrection power is the shout.

If you tolerate it, it will stay. If you roar at it, it must go. Isaiah 33:3: at the noise of the tumult, the people fled. There is a frequency you can reach in prayer — after worship, after fasting, after persistent intercession — where something releases from your spirit that no contrary force can withstand.

Force Two: Faith

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). When you heard the gospel and accepted Christ, faith was planted in your spirit. Romans 12:3 says God dealt to each person the measure of faith — not a measure, but the measure. The full faith required for a glorious life.

That faith is not even yours originally. In Galatians 2:20, Paul said he lived by the faith of the Son of God. In 2 Corinthians 4:13, he said we have the same spirit of faith — we believe and therefore we speak.

Faith is not activated by waiting to see results before acting. It is activated by acting before you see results. Faith has works. In Acts 3:6, no miracle occurred until Peter grabbed the man's hand and pulled him up. The moment the man attempted to rise, he didn't just stand — he leaped. The power was present the whole time, waiting for the action.

Through faith they subdued kingdoms, obtained promises, quenched the violence of fire, put to flight the armies of the alien (Hebrews 11:33–34). Faith is not for the healing line only. Faith is for the marketplace. Faith starts businesses. Faith enters rooms without connections. Faith applies again after rejection. Faith outlasts the enemy's resistance.

Force Three: The Name of Jesus

The name of Jesus is not for pronunciation — it is for representation. When Jesus gave you his name, he was not asking you to say it like a magic word. He was commissioning you to stand in his stead. Anything you alter in his name has his backing. When you show up somewhere in his name, it is as good as Jesus showing up.

Proverbs 18:10: the name of the Lord is a strong tower — the righteous run into it and they are safe. The name envelops you so that every being and every element responds to you as though responding to Jesus himself.

Mark 16:17: in my name, cast out devils. It was on the strength of representation — not formula — that he said if you drink any deadly thing it will not hurt you, if you step on serpents and scorpions it will not harm you. The whole design of the gospel was to transfer this consciousness into the believer.

You carry the name of Jesus while sleeping, while doing business, while sitting in a meeting. You are Jesus's legal representative on earth. Anything that would stop Jesus has no basis for stopping you — unless you do not know it.

Force Four: The Wisdom of God

In 1 Corinthians 2:12–16, Paul says believers have received not the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God — so that they can know the things freely given by God. Verse 16: we have the mind of Christ.

This is the intelligence that allowed Jesus to read people's thoughts, to discern motives behind religious questions, to never be taken unawares. When you operate with the mind of Christ, you can discern beyond what is visible. You can enter a business negotiation and know what the other party is planning. You can hear God redirect you mid-course.

Proverbs 8:15–16: by wisdom kings reign, by wisdom princes decree justice, all the rulers of the earth govern by wisdom. Through wisdom a house is built, by understanding it is established, and through knowledge all its chambers are filled with good things. Wisdom belongs in the marketplace. The church is where you are charged — the world is where you shine.
