God Sent a Man Before the Famine

Psalm 105:16-19 — King James Version

Moreover, He called for a famine upon the land. He broke the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them — even Joseph — who was sold for a servant. Whose feet they hurt with fetters. He was laid in iron until the time that his word came. The word of the Lord tried him.

Amplified translation: He summoned a famine on the land and broke all supply of bread. He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. His feet they hurt with shackles. He was put in chains of iron until the time his word of prophecy regarding his brothers came true. The word of the Lord tested and refined him.

Everything You Have Gone Through — God Allowed It

The first truth this passage reveals: God allowed it. He summoned the famine. He is God. He cut off every source of bread. He sent a man before the crisis.

The betrayals. The broke seasons. The bitterness. Rejection from family. The marital delays. The heartbreaks. God allowed it and He is aware.

He summoned the famine in the land. There are certain things God allows to happen to a person — not just for that person, but for generations — because that person is a solution.

You Are the Solution — Not the Problem

The main things God allows to happen in a life are allowed because there is a word of prophecy that has already come forth over that life. But that word cannot fulfill itself. The person must be tested and refined.

The betrayals were allowed. The pit was allowed. The prison was allowed. Not because God was absent — but because He sent the man before them. Joseph was sent before the famine. The solution came before the crisis.

In every generation, God sends the solution before He allows the problem. The question is not why you are going through this — the question is: what is the generation you are the answer to?

Like Joseph, the word of prophecy regarding your life must be tested and refined. It cannot come to pass without the process. But the process is not the punishment — it is the preparation.

Romans 8:28 — All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

What the enemy designed to destroy you has been repositioned by God to display you. The pit brought Joseph to the palace — not away from it.
