Pastor Jerry Eze Preaching - Wisdom for 2026 Part 2: Word and Fire
Sermon

lightbulb Message Summary - Key Nuggets

  • 2026 is a marketplace — what you see determines what you gain, and shallow living will cause you to walk past your treasure.
  • The man who found hidden treasure re-hid it before buying the field — strategic concealment protects destiny until the fullness of time.
  • God is not just giving you treasure; He is positioning you for territorial dominion over the field that contains it.
  • Your capacity is your destiny currency — build it spiritually, professionally, and in every area where God has planted you.

The Field and the Treasure

Matthew 13:44 — "The kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man had found, he hideth it, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field."

This single verse holds a compendium of wisdom that can transition any life. There are too many matters here — let one be drawn out carefully.

There is a field. Someone owns the field. Another man comes and buys the field. But here is what is critical: the owner of the field is looking at the field. The man who buys the field is seeing the treasure. The owner sells what he sees — the field. The buyer purchases what he sees — the treasure. The difference between what was being sold and what was being bought was entirely dependent on what each party could see.

In that transaction, the buyer won. Make no mistakes — 2026 is a market. There will be buying and selling. Whatever distinguishes your transactions this year will be determined by what you see.

Nobody puts treasure on the surface. The man who found this treasure was not living a shallow life. Shallow prayer life, shallow work life, shallow patterns of reinventing yourself will never reveal hidden treasure.

Before stepping into any day, understand: there is a treasure somewhere in your field. Some people before you walked past their treasure. Some cried while marching on theirs. Some prayed for the treasure God had already given them — but they could not see it. One of the most vital prayers of this season is: Father, open my eyes.

Jesus wept over Jerusalem for one reason — they did not know the time of their visitation. Heaven must not cry over you because what God prepared came and you missed it because the picture on your mind was wrong.

Don't Do Shallow

Shallow living will make you miss your treasure. Don't do regular — it will cost you your treasure. Don't reinvent the wheel. Don't step into the automatic, reactive way of being. Don't get easily offended. Don't be easily frustrated. Don't let every shiny thing catch your attention. Don't open your door to everyone who knocks. Don't allow every barking dog to capture your attention.

When the Holy Spirit wakes you in the night, do not pick up a phone and scroll. Pray. By reason of use, the senses are exercised (Hebrews 5:14). Commit to at least one hour. If you tire, start again. Tell the Lord: I must complete one hour. There are treasures here — I am not doing shallow.

If you exercised faith and saw nothing, watch — exercise more. The one who keeps exercising is the one who eventually finds the treasure.

Two Kinds of Sight

One person was seeing the field even though he owned it. The other was seeing the treasure even though he did not own it. Let it never be said that things you owned, you never saw the treasure in them — and now those who do not own them are the ones seeing the treasure inside what you possess.

God is speaking to different people in different ways. For some, the word is: don't do shallow. For others, God is saying: it is already yours — I gave it to you. There is treasure in it. Don't let those who price it cheaply determine its value. God is sending those who know your worth.

May the Lord send you those who know your worth. May the Lord send people who know who you are. Receive it right now.

Three Ways Men Find Treasure in Destiny

  1. By divine revelation — God opening the eyes to see what is hidden.
  2. By meditation — where you regurgitate on the word; it opens dimensions others cannot see.
  3. By prophetic sent men — people assigned by heaven to locate and unlock your life. Not everyone who comes your way is your sent man. The question to ask is: who sent you?

When Samuel instructed Saul, he described sent men coming to him with specific gifts and words. When God needed Paul to receive his sight and his assignment, He sent Ananias — a prophetic sent man. When Adonijah tried to hijack David's throne, Nathan the prophet went to Bathsheba with the strategy to preserve what God had decreed — a prophetic sent man.

Sent men are carriers of good news. Sometimes they don't look the part. Rhoda, a young girl, ran to announce that Peter was at the gate — the very answer to the church's prayer. If not for Rhoda, they might have missed the moment.

Wherever your prophetic sent men are, at the sound of your amen, let them locate your life. Let them locate your life right now.

Re-Hiding the Treasure

Here is the part that is often overlooked: when a man had found, he hideth it. He found it — and immediately re-hid it. The treasure had been hidden; he found it; and he hid it again. Why?

The success of this man was not in what he found — it was in what he hid. Until God makes the fullness of your treasure manifest, hide it. Let them keep guessing. Let them keep underestimating. Let them make their summaries and conclusions. If they don't matter, don't respond. You wasted energy last season on people and things that have no role in your future.

The man reasoned: if I go and tell this owner I want to buy his field, he may start investigating. So he hid the treasure, went and bought the field. Give people 20% to watch — 80% they should not know what is going on.

For joy — for joy thereof — he hid it and went and bought. When you have found your treasure, hide it with joy.

It Was Dominion Business, Not Just Treasure Business

Notice: he did not buy the treasure. He bought the field that contained the treasure. This is territorial dominion. He was not just getting the gold — he was getting the land. There is a place God has planted you. Dominate it.

Miners know this: when a territory shows signs of minerals, they buy the entire area — because the treasure goes beyond what they can immediately see. At the least expected spot, another vein emerges. You are in charge of your territory. Even as an employee, you are in charge. Your capacity is your destiny currency.

Capacity Is Your Destiny Currency

This man, before he ever found the field, had something he could sell that was worth enough to buy the field. He already had capacity. Because he had capacity, it was easy to acquire the field.

Build capacity. Your capacity is your destiny currency.

No shallow living. Open the Scripture. Study it line upon line, precept upon precept. Build capacity in the spirit. Build capacity in your industry, in your career. Don't let things fly over your head. Don't forget: your capacity is your destiny currency.

The wisdom of God is at work in your life. Nothing missing, nothing broken. I see God giving you keys — keys to the door He has opened for you. As you see that door, there is a barn full of harvest. You have served diligently. It is your reaping season.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
