An exhortation calls a man aside

Hebrews 13:20 to Hebrews 13:22

The benediction brings a series of discourses to an end, and then comes a personal charge. Allow the word of exhortation to sink deeply into your heart

Hebrews is a compendium of few words. The real message was more elaborate, but it was condensed. He calls the book an exhortation

Exhortation comes from the Greek parakaleo. Para means beside and kaleo means to call. An exhortation is an attempt to call a man to the side.

Not to the ring, the market square or the stage, but to the side

God draws us to the side so he can speak to us. It is the quiet effort of a counselor with someone used to the spotlight, who has ignored critical ingredients of his life

Acts 18:24 to Acts 18:26

Apollos had the power of oratory, a wonderful diction and remarkable fluency. His limitation was that he did not know the full counsel of God. He was already on the stage and becoming a darling preacher

It is difficult to help somebody on the stage. He was not helped by pulpit ministry. He was called to the side

Some people are already in motion. No pulpit message can help them. They need to be called out of the stage to a dark room, not exhorted on Facebook

Judas fell by transgression and a replacement was made. There was a shortfall of apostolic functionaries, so God began to call other apostles besides the twelve, sent by Jesus, including Paul

Romans 16:7

Junia was a sister, and Paul acknowledged that the rank she manifested in the apostolic office was at his level. The office was being replenished so fresh impact could come into various territories

The Bible is the compass

A man traveling needs a compass. If he is not going in the right direction, do not ask him about his speed.

Noise on social media shows that the average person speaking for God does not have a good knowledge of the Bible

The Holy Spirit cannot operate outside the logos

A pastor said Jesus raising Lazarus had no economic value, but the Wright brothers' invention is still making economic value. People clapped as if there was wisdom in it

That man does not understand the lens through which to judge the ministry of Jesus. He does not understand the reason Jesus came. Foolish believers hail him when they should bind him hand and foot

Study, skill and rightly dividing

2 Timothy 2:15 to 2 Timothy 2:17

Study is a discipline. You get used to the way God thinks, his preferences, his policies, his ways. In the sight of God you become a man approved to carry his message

There is a difference between the message and the passage. The message comes by inspiration. The passage is the platform you use to communicate it.

If you are deficient in passages, your communication will not embody the full counsel of God

The first validation a man receives is from God, not the congregation. God sees how much of his word you have on your life

A workman is a skill developed in the workshop. You cannot say you are anointed and make a chair.

If you do not have the scriptures to add muscle to the message, God will not deliver you from the shame before men

Rightly dividing came from Paul's tent making. The skill of tent making and tailoring is cutting. If you cannot cut, you make a trouser baggy on one leg and pencil on the other

2 marks of a ministry without a message

• Profane babblings: supporting what the Bible outlaws. Romans 6:1 Scripture asked that question and gave an answer. A preacher who says you cannot sin away your salvation gives a contrary position to what scripture has judged
• Vain babblings: empty and outside the scope of scripture. Like taking the ball outside the pitch and dribbling people

Both produce more ungodliness and doctrinal diseases that eat like a canker. Hymenaeus and Philetus are named, so scripture allows us to name those whose word produces doctrinal disease

Concerning the truth they have erred. The Greek word is astocheo. An archer shoots and the arrow does not touch even the board. We measure a message by its accuracy

Every truth exists in a context. Bloggers take a 22 second window out of its context. Take the scripture on stolen waters Proverbs 9:17 out of context and the Bible seems to encourage theft.

The publicity I have had came from people who wanted to shut me up

The hope is that when truth is injected into the body sufficiently, error dies a natural death

5 exhortations in Hebrews, 2 types

The first exhortation is in chapter 2. The second is in chapter 3, and it is an encouragement: consider Jesus

• Warnings carry the word "lest." A warning is a steering wheel that helps you make corrections. The soul has no discernment, so even with good intentions you can veer off
• Encouragements carry the word "let us." You are on the right path. All you need is consistency, even without results

Hebrews 2:1 to Hebrews 2:3

Two danger words. First, you let things slip. Second, you neglect

The man on the pulpit who commits adultery has not forgotten it is wrong. He decided to neglect it, hoping the warnings do not carry as much consequence as people say

If it were not possible to lose salvation, God would not attach a warning to salvation. He would have said carry on

Great salvation was first spoken by the Lord, not by angels. It carries more weight than the word angels brought, which was steadfast

Partakers of the heavenly calling

Hebrews 3:1

If you responded adequately to chapter 2, by chapter 3 you are holy brethren. Separated unto God, serving the will of Christ as your preoccupation

You are already partakers of a heavenly calling. Your calling did not come from government house, the local government council or the university

Being born from above means a heavenly life, sent as ambassadors to manifest the value system of heaven on earth. You also have a heavenly calling

This heavenly calling has three aspects. If you are not aware of them, you will not understand this exhortation. Our preoccupation should be our heavenly calling

Consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest

Consider is the Greek katanoeo. A desert traveler cannot tell one place from another, so he travels at night and fixes his gaze on the northern star.

Other stars change in their orbits, but the northern star is consistent

Jesus is our star, as apostle and as high priest. Lose sight of him and you cannot navigate the heavenly calling.

Our accuracy is determined by how much we align with the apostle and how much we take advantage of his heavenly ministry

Jesus the apostle

An apostle is one who was sent, so we must define the authority that sent him. We have too many apostles in Nigeria, and we need to find out who is sending them

The one sent from the Father has more authority than the ones sent by the Son. The ones sent by the Son have more authority than those sent by the Holy Spirit.

Paul was dispatched by the living Jesus made available through the Holy Ghost

A title from anywhere is not apostolic if we cannot trace it to the northern star

Jesus the high priest

Three contexts in Hebrews: the divine priest, the king priest and the heavenly priest

1st aspect of the calling: be God's house

Hebrews 3:3 to Hebrews 3:6

The ministry of Moses was prophetic, pointing to Christ, who is a son over his own house. Whose house are we?

Ephesians 2:21 to Ephesians 2:22

The Spirit of God needs a house to trap him. God's idea for man in the beginning was a house on earth where the dimensions of God could be trapped, a legitimate entrance into the earth.

The Holy Spirit needs a vessel to possess so he can carry out his will

Isaiah 66:1 to Isaiah 66:2

Heaven and earth are God's. What is lacking is the house. God cannot rest without a house. The house he looks for is the vessels of men

Even though you are born again, God might still have a problem with his rest. If the house is not poor in spirit, he cannot fill it with his overflowing essence to represent his interest

3 requirements for God's house

1. The house must be poor, acknowledging perpetual spiritual inadequacy. That qualifies us for supplies of grace that take us beyond natural ability into supernatural capacity

Romans 8:26

The recipe for the supply of grace is acknowledging that in the flesh I have no capacity. That is the motivation for staying in the presence of God

2. The house must have a contrite spirit
3. The house must tremble at his word and recognize its authority

When the house represents him well, God does not need to come and speak for himself or defend himself

Acts 1:1

Luke refers to his former treatise on all that Jesus began to do and to teach. Jesus has not stopped doing and teaching. He does it through his house.

If his house teaches what he would have taught if present, he rests because he has adequate representation

In the church in Nigeria at this time Jesus does not have accurate representation. His counsel is obscure. A deficit in teaching or in the doing of his works means there is a problem with his house

I was told that in Babalola's crusades the dead bodies were put at the back and rose while he ministered, without special prayer.

I was told by a reliable source that during praise and worship he levitated, and an evangelist who held his leg was drawn up too. Did God go to sleep after Babalola died?

A chaplain told me not to pray for the sick because someone before me did and they were not healed. I prayed anyway, and the sick got healed in their numbers.

The church was filled the next day. The importance of the church was because Jesus could no longer do and preach

Do you know how heaven rejoices when the works of Jesus are made manifest?

Your king in those days was a tongue talking Christian with a team of intercessors, including our great prophetic fathers. They were told that no unauthorized man could pass through the palace door and live.

The intercessors gathered, saw the face of the God of heaven and sent the king. He passed through the door and survived.

That is how Ibadan came to stand by itself, on the basis of the supernatural

Do you know how many things we have lost because the supernatural is not commonplace in our midst?

The house of God in Ibadan is a big house with big potential. Where other houses might have 10 measures, this one is supposed to have 1,000. It can carry global impact

God needs rest

Matthew 12:43

Only demon spirits have no allocation of rest. Rest is one of the 12 pillars of the civilization of heaven

Exodus 31:17

Spirit beings need rest. It is not that God is exhausted. God finds his rest through his house

God wants you to enjoy that rest here before you enjoy it there. Your spirit needs rest, and God has put in place a technology for your spirit to come into the experience of rest

God will never rest until he is revealed to a generation. The Father said, this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, because the Son revealed him

Our house is paralyzed. Though the head of the church wants something done, the body cannot translate it.

Jesus is still an evangelist in the Middle East, appearing in dreams because there is no one to preach. 70% of the converts in Iran came because Jesus entered their dreams

Can he show off through your life? Do not be a limitation on God

How many gates have been kept closed and territories conceded because Jesus can no longer do in our time? Jesus is paralyzed. What can he do through you?

Prayer for the house

• Lord, in me your house will not be paralyzed. I am willing to be that vessel through which you speak and do
• Upgrade us. Take advantage of our vocal cords and make them a conduit for your testimony in our generation
• You desperately want to be seen in our city. Once again our city is quiet because there is nothing to show and nothing to say
• Heal us of the paralysis that has made us quiet and silent
• Raise up a speaking house, a teaching house, a powerhouse, a house of miracles that can make you manifest in your brightest colors

I will raise a house for myself in your city. I will make a name for myself in your city.

Your city will be a hot spot of revival where men come again to receive the fire of authentic Christianity. Once again your city will be placed on the spiritual map of the world.

The pure fires of revival to restore the fortunes of God's house will burn in your city

I see six cities in this nation that will be hot spots of the move of God, and Ibadan is one of them. The altars of idolatry set up over generations will lose relevance.

Even the spirits that attend them will forget how to find them. The land and the rivers will go through cleansing. Something of light will dwell in the territory

The hand of God is coming on your city. Many will travel here. The old miracles that were spoken about will come again, and people will naturally turn from darkness because of the glory that will shine

• We have a witness that you are ready to restore your house in this city. Set apart ministries to be your hands, your legs and your mouthpiece in the territory
• Choose from among us men who will stand for your name and your kingdom, by the grace of divine election, to bring about a renewal and an advancement of your kingdom
• Let every idol and image of jealousy raised in the territory fall
• Let the fresh anointing of your Spirit rest on your people
