We Owe God Thanks

Psalm 3:5 — I laid me down and slept. I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. Not everyone who lays down can sleep. Not everyone who sleeps wakes up. The moment you sleep, you lose the power to wake yourself up. It was God who sustained you through the night.

Psalm 150:6 — Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. The Bible did not say, "Let everything that has a car," or "Let everything that has a house." It said let everything that has breath. Going out safely and returning safely in this country is underrated. There is a container that fell on a car in Lagos. The people inside came out and were not looking at the state of their car — they were just worshipping God and thanking him. When a thing like that happens, it is not who is right, it is who is left.

We owe God thanks. As the scripture says, let everything that has breath give praise.

The First Reason to Subdue Kingdoms: Gratitude

We are reading from Luke 17. Beginning at verse 14 — when Jesus saw the ten lepers, he said unto them, "Go show yourselves to the priest." And as they went, they were cleansed.

They were lepers. But as they obeyed God and went to show themselves to the priest, they were cleansed. Then verse 15 — and one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back. When you see that God has done something for you, give God thanks.

Nine went on their way. One returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell on his face at the feet of Jesus, giving thanks. Jesus asked: "Were there not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?" Jesus noted the one who came back. He notes every return, every act of gratitude.

The Link Between Gratitude and Testimony

When you receive a testimony and you begin to declare it and thank God for it before it fully manifests in the natural, something is confirmed in the spirit. A sister stepped out by faith after prayer — she felt pain but declared her healing was permanent. Months later, while going up a flight of stairs, she realised the pain had been gone for a while and she simply had not noticed. When things leave without drama, they often leave quietly. Notice when things leave. When they came, they came with a reminder. When God removes them, pay attention — and give thanks.
