You Are Chosen, Ordained, and Sent

John 15:16

God is the one who did the choosing. He chose you. He ordained you. He sent you. Not the other way around. Some people pride themselves on how much they do for God, how much they have sacrificed, how long they have fasted. But the scripture is clear: you did not choose him — he chose you.

Philippians 2:13 says it plainly: it is God who works in you, both to will and to do for his good pleasure. Even the desire to pray, to fast, to worship, to serve — he put that desire in you. You did not generate it yourself.

Do not take pride in what God originated.

Songs of Solomon 1:4 — draw me, and I will run after you. The running came after the drawing. God draws, and then we run. He initiates. We respond.

Purposefully Planted

John 15:16 in the Amplified Bible says God has appointed, placed, and purposefully planted you. You are not random. You are not an accident.

John 20:21 — Jesus said: as the Father sent me, so I am sending you. That is the scale of your commission. And John 1:6 says John the Baptist was a man sent from God. Not just sent by God — sent from God. There is a difference. You did not originate here. You came from him.

  • Everyone on mission for God is funded by God — John 15:16 ends with the promise that whatever you ask of the Father in his name, he will give it.
  • Your provision is at the place of your assignment. The ravens were commanded to feed Elijah — but they were sent to Cherith, not to his previous location. If you stay where he has not sent you, you will miss your supply.
  • The word "provision" contains the word "vision" — the provision is for the vision. It is not for general consumption; it is targeted at the assignment.

You Are Not Alone in What He Sent You to Do

Matthew 28:20

Jesus said: lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. He did not send you empty. He did not send you abandoned. The one who sends remains with the one he sends.

John 8:29 — Jesus said he that sent me is with me. The Father was with him throughout his mission. That same dynamic is extended to you.

Walk with audacity. Walk with confidence. You are not alone in this.

Character Must Match Commission

Luke 2:48-51

At 12 years old, Jesus stayed behind in the temple when his parents left Jerusalem. When they found him three days later, he said: did you not know that I must be in my Father's house? He knew his assignment at 12.

But then the Bible records something remarkable: he went back to Nazareth with his parents and was obedient to them — parents who did not fully understand what he was saying.

Jesus was knowledgeable and still chose to be obedient.

This is character. Someone who carries genuine anointing and genuine understanding can still submit. Can still wait. Can still be placed under authority.

The reason many people cannot be corrected, cannot receive instruction, cannot stay under leadership — is not because they are too anointed. It is because they are not yet prepared. Anointing without character is dangerous.

Jesus waited. He was powerful at 12. But he did not exercise that power outside of the season and the order God had appointed. He waited until his public ministry began at 30. Nine years of quiet preparation after the temple incident. He had the power. He let it happen in God's time.

Let God do what he said he was going to do. Even if you can afford to make it happen yourself — wait for God to do it.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."

- Apostle Emmanuel Iren
