Prayer Is the Battle

Prayer is when you spread your helplessness before God. Prayer is deep. Prayer is mysterious. The person who can truly pray has no unsolvable problem.

A brother was kidnapped and taken into a deep forest, where he found many others who had been captured. He heard the captors assigning body parts among themselves — one wanted the heart, another the liver, another the kidney. They were taking them one by one to be slaughtered.

When it was nearly his turn, he began to pray. As he prayed aloud, the captors made mistakes in their operations. They told him to stop talking. He kept quiet — and began to pray in his heart. Even then, mistakes continued. They came back and said, "That thing you were saying with your mouth, you are saying it in your heart. Stop."

He remembered the words of Esther: "If I perish, I perish." He burst out in tongues. Confusion erupted. He ran. An angel took his hand and brought him out to the main road.

The modern man does not understand the awesomeness of prayer. Prayer can uproot, disable, revive, reconstruct, resurrect, demolish, abolish, dismantle, and terminate. Prayer can kill, reverse, fast-forward, and reorganize. Prayer can plant, build, destroy, recover, pursue, overtake, pull down, create, and recreate. Prayer has no respect for geographical distance.

The Prayer of Psalm 35

The prayer to hold very tightly is found in Psalm 35:5-6: Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the Lord chase them. Let the angel of the Lord chase them.

Hebrews 1:13-14 confirms: Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Angels are ministering spirits. If you do not utilize this advantage, it is not heaven's fault — it is the fault of ignorance or of not knowing how to activate them on your behalf.

Angels are spiritual beings created by God. They exist in the spiritual realm. They are immortal. They have outstanding intelligence. A single angel can destroy thousands of soldiers. There are different categories:

• Messenger angels — they carry messages from God and deliver them. Gabriel is an example.
• Warrior angels — military angels who fight. Michael is the example. The Bible says Michael and his angels fought.
• Worshipping angels — of which Lucifer was once the chief choirmaster in heaven.
• Enforcement angels — they ensure that what God has decreed must come to pass.
• Deliverance angels — they go and remove men from bondage.

What It Means for the Angel of God to Chase

To chase means to follow closely, relentlessly, with determination and urgency — to pursue in order to confront and capture. When you cry out and God assigns an angel, the battle reverses. The chasers become the chased. The hunters become the haunted.

When angels chase the enemy:

• Confusion enters their account
• Internal division begins among them
• Their plans collapse suddenly
• Fear replaces confidence
• They abandon the attack
• Their leadership is fractured
• Their weapons malfunction
• Their lies lose credibility
• Their evil networks scatter

Remember what happened to the Egyptians chasing Israel in Exodus 14 — divine confusion. God does not allow the enemy to continue forever. The angel of God fights battles that you cannot even see.

When to Pray This Prayer

• When you are being tormented in your dreams
• When there are blockages or embargoes on your progress
• When you feel oppressed spiritually and emotionally
• When the enemy tries to stop your progress and you are sick of feeling weak
