The Life of God: A Recap

We are looking at the secrets of the life of God. John 3:16 — our objective is to understand what it takes to function with the life of God.

It was clearly established that God made man in his image and likeness. Genesis 1:26-27 — God created man in his own image and likeness. Man is also a carrier of the breath of God. Genesis 2:7 — the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. Job 33:4 — the spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life.

But man lost the life of God. Man lost the life of God through sin and disobedience. Genesis 2:16-17 — of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it. For in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 3:6-7 — man ate it. When the eyes of them both were opened, they knew they were naked. At least two things happened: one, the glory of God that covered them lifted — Romans 3:23 — all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And second, death entered — Romans 6:23 — the wages of sin is death. So even though man was still living physically, he had spiritually died. The life of God was gone.

How We Recover the Life of God

1. Being Born Again

   John 3:16. John 10:10 — I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. It is only the person that is born again that has the life of God. John 1:12 — as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God — he gave them power to be carriers of the life of God. John 14:6 — I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. Life comes from Jesus.

   Anyone who is not born again is taking steps of death. He might be a fine man, an educated man, a professor — they are taking steps of death. Like a man sentenced to death, the walk he takes from his prison cell to the place of execution is called the walk of death. Dead man walking. He hasn't died yet, but he's definitely dying. The professor that is not born again is a dead professor walking. The billionaire that is not saved is a dead billionaire walking. The churchgoer that is not saved is a dead churchgoer walking. Even though Adam was still alive physically, he was a dead man. The moment you eat the fruit, you have died — even though the physical life was still there, spiritual life was gone.

2. Walking in Communion and Fellowship with God

   John 15:5 — I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit, for without me ye can do nothing. Abide in me so I can abide in you. Live in me and I will live in you. Commune with me and I connect with you. In our communion with God is our connection with his life. Our prayers, our worship, our communication, spending time in his presence is our connection to his life.

   Psalm 17:15 and 2 Corinthians 3:18 are twin scriptures. He said, as for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness. I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness. When you behold his face, you awake like him. What you look at affects what you look like.

   When you continue to hang around him, when you continue to spend time with him, in a short while you begin to look like him — effortlessly. That is what happens to you in the company of God. There is a mystery of the nail and the magnet. A nine-inch nail placed beside the magnet gets magnetized. If you leave the nail with the magnet for a long time, and you remove the nail and bring an office pin close to the nail, the office pin will be attracted to the nail. It magnetized because it hung around in a magnetic field long enough. When you hang around God, no wonder when Moses stayed with God on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights, when he came down, they couldn't look at his face anymore — his face was like the sun because the glory he was around with entered his body and saturated his face. The same way people could not look at the face of God.

   The devil wants to keep you very, very busy so you don't have time with God — no time for prayer, no time for worship — so you can remain normal and natural. IT IS IRON THAT SHARPENETH IRON. If you want to be sharpened in your divine nature, you must hang around divinity. You must hang around your Maker.

3. Living in the Word of God

   The devil makes us so busy from the word because the word of God carries the life of God. John 6:63 — the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life. Philippians 2:16 — the Bible is referred to as the word of life. 1 John 1:1 — that which was from the beginning, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the word of life. Matthew 4:4 — man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God.

   John 10:34-36 — Jesus said, is it not written in your law, I said ye are gods? If he called them gods unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken — the arrival of the word of God is the elevation of the status of man onto the divine nature. There is something that happens in you when the word of God comes to you. It changes your status.

   Before stepping into a healing and deliverance service, the scripture came — Acts 5:15 — that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them, and they were healed, every one. That light was: I don't have any reason why I should struggle for anybody to be healed. When a man's shadow, he just walked by, and people got healed. The one who sent him is the one who sent me. And when he stepped to the altar, the announcement was made: as I walked from this place to the altar, people have been healed. Check yourself and confirm your healing. A mass came forward — lumps disappeared, eyes began to see, all manner of healings at that instance. When that light came, there was an injection of the divine nature — and that injection got expression and produced instant result. What God wants is for you to be hooked on that injection. Every fresh revelation is a fresh release of divine life.

   Also, from Luke 10:16 — he that heareth you heareth me, and he that despiseth you despiseth me. And this was the voice in the verse: any devil that will hear me will hear you. Any devil that cannot say no to me cannot say no to you. My voice is inside your voice. A young man, chained with four chains, brought in madness — unable to be held by four people. With that fire already injected, the command was: Leave him. Loose him. The chains unwound. The young man said, "Thank you, sir." He knelt, surrendered his life, and walked out with his mother in peace. Not up to five minutes. The devil came too late because of the injection just received. Keep moving into the word and while you study, ask the Lord: what are you saying to me? What is this scripture saying? You will hear the voice that is inside the verse.

4. Walking in Love

   1 John 4:8 — he that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love. So look at Genesis 1:1 through that lens: in the beginning, love created the heaven and the earth. And love said, Let us make man in our image after our likeness. Genesis 1:27 — so love created man in his own image. Love said, let us make man to look like us. The question to ask yourself is: do you look like love, or do you look like hate? It affects how much of God you can manifest.

   1 Corinthians 13:4-8 — love suffers long, is kind, does not envy, is not puffed up, does not behave unseemly, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Love faileth not. That looks like God. God cannot fail. Love never fails.

   Even Galatians 5:6 — faith which worketh by love. If you want the nature of God to manifest, go and just start loving. Anything that is dragging you out of love is dragging you out of God. It takes you out of possibilities. It takes you out of the divine nature.

   Matthew 7:12 — whatsoever you wish that men should do unto you, do to them, for that is the law and the prophets. If you wish people well, no devil can wish you evil. Life is a seed. Whatsoever a man sows, that shall he reap.

Closing Charge

Ensure you are saved. Ensure you walk in communion and fellowship with God. Ensure you live in his word. Ensure you walk in love. Everything that takes you out of love takes you out of God.

Nobody has ever been too busy to eat food, but too busy for the word. The food you eat supplies you natural life. The word you eat supplies you divine life. It is a matter of choice. Man shall not live by bread alone. The word that proceeds from the mouth of God is divine life. You need both — natural life to move around in the natural, and divine life to deal with the forces of the spirit.
