Order in the Temple

Matthew 21:12, Mark 11:15. Jesus went into the temple of God and cast out all those that bought and sold, overthrew the tables of money changers and the seats of those that sold doves. Order is the mother of progress. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 14:40, "Let everything be done decently and in order." Nothing functions in a disorderly state. The growth and continuous success of a man, if you must see accelerated speed and fulfillment, it must be on the bedrock of order.

Among all the things being commercialized in the temple, Scripture emphasizes one element: doves. The last time anyone checked, a dove is a typology of the Holy Spirit. There were people in the temple who were commercializing the Holy Spirit. This is what disorder in the house of God looks like.

Three Disorders That Corrupt Ministry

1. Carnality

   Carnality is anything that reduces your love for God. It shows up in several ways:

   • Consciousness of title and money to the point where worldliness becomes alarming.
   • Bitterness. In 2 Samuel 15:12, Ahithophel is one of the most sobering examples in Scripture. He was a man who spoke like the oracles of God. But when Absalom conspired against David, Ahithophel joined the conspiracy. Why? David had taken Bathsheba — who was Ahithophel's granddaughter (2 Samuel 11:3, 2 Samuel 23:34). He killed her husband Uriah. Ahithophel was David's advisor, was in the temple offering sacrifices, but bitterness was brewing. What is that thing you are holding on to? What is in your character that you are covering in the sand? If you don't dig it out, Satan will dig it out and use it against you.
   • Hebrews 12:14-15: "Follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. Looking diligently lest any root of bitterness spring up and trouble you." The component that can contaminate your garment is bitterness. Anytime you see a preacher preaching against another preacher from the pulpit, that is a person suffering from trauma. Many ministers need therapy. You are carrying so many hurts and pains. Bitterness is carnality.
   • Indiscipline with time. Every growing church is disciplined with time management. Any minister who walks into service after praise has already started is in indiscipline. Once it is time, you run. The Holy Spirit once said: "You are too small for me to wait for you." That day was a turning point. If a meeting is 10:00, be there at 10:00. Spend more time on the throne, not on the phone.

2. Spiritual Harlotry

   Anytime God is angry at Israel throughout Scripture, He qualifies them as harlots. What we see in the church today is not revival — it is revolving. Someone moves from one ministry to the next, from this mentor to that mentor. People cannot stay because we have made rebellion convenient. Someone is disciplined in one church and walks straight into another ministry to receive ordination.

   Isaiah 37:31, 1 Kings 19:4: "They shall take root downward and bear fruit upward." Your root determines your fruit. Ten years, ten churches — that is no achievement. Let us raise people who are rooted. Send those who are causing disorder back. Teach people how to be rooted. Social media is not spiritual stature. People without depth are being addressed as fathers from campus fellowship podiums.

3. Bankruptcy of Intimacy

   There are people who know the Bible very well but do not know the Holy Spirit. They can expound Scriptures but lack intimacy. That is why the Bible says the letter kills. Spiritual warfare is not memory of verses. It is intimacy.

   A sixteen-year-old girl was brought for deliverance — she had been carrying a demon since age two. She had been beating pastors during deliverance sessions. For two full days, every Scripture known was quoted. Nothing moved the demon. In fact, it mocked. Then on Friday, an angelic being whispered one word: worship. The moment worship began, the demon screamed, flew around the room, and the girl collapsed free. She is married to a pastor now.

   When I came out that day, the thing that pained me most was this: if I had known this on Wednesday, what was I doing for two days? There is a direction and an instruction that can make a location open, but you are following tradition. He said, "It is the Spirit that quickens. Traditions and logic profit nothing."

   Acts 1:6-8: When they asked Jesus about the restoration of Israel, He said it is not for you to know the times or seasons which the Father has appointed in His own power. But there is an access: "You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost comes upon you." If you want to know what the Father has kept to Himself, there is a way to access it — the Holy Spirit.

   The word intimacy breaks down as: into-me-see. Enter into me and see. That is what intimacy is. The God you traffic with in secret is the one you bring outside. Moses said, "Show me yourself." God said, "No man sees me and lives" — not meaning death, but that when you see Him, the man in you dies. The flesh gives way.

   Moses was not a stammerer. He began to stammer when God called him — because the assignment was beyond his natural capacity. God did not heal Moses' tongue, and here is why: if He had, Aaron would have had no ministry. Your limitation creates a platform for someone else's calling.

   There is a dimension of ministry you will not enter through enticing words of man's wisdom or eloquence of speech, but through demonstration of power. And that power is on the platform of intimacy.

Travel Light to Travel Far

To travel far, you must travel light. When you are traveling by road, you can load everything into the boot. But when you travel by flight, excess luggage costs you. Many ministers are paying right now because they are carrying excess luggage. Shed the weight.

The Burden That Makes Men Pray

Burden is what makes men pray. When you lack burden, prayer becomes a ritual. What everyone heard was what Nehemiah heard — but he cried, he wept, he fasted. Nehemiah took common information uncommonly.

Cry out to God: restore my burden. Restore my passion. I must not leave my world the way I met it. God is not looking for men with titles. He is looking for men He can title Himself.
