Introduction: The Power of God's Word

God invested His power in His word. John 6:63 - The words I speak are spirit and life. Habakkuk 3:3-4 - In the light from His word is the hiding place of His power.

ASSIGNMENTS OF GOD'S WORD

1. Provides maturity through enlightenment - We grow on the strength of God's word
2. Takes away ignorance - Ephesians 4:18 - The god of this world blinds minds to keep people in ignorance
3. Conveys God's intent - Jeremiah 29:11 - God's thoughts are captured in His word
4. Cultures our thinking - Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you which was in Christ
5. Gives wisdom - God's perspective on all matters

Authority Through Enlightenment

Exousia (authority) is the capacity to stand in office by reason of enlightenment. Dominion in this kingdom is light dependent, not just impartation.

Spiritual Information Transforms Territories

A territory is at the mercy of the quality of spiritual information supplied to it. You transform a territory by supplying superior spiritual information.

It takes more than politics to change a territory. The shepherds of spiritual convictions - ignore them and you will pay for it

The training of a genuine man of God is strict because destinies are connected to the information you supply

Christianity that cannot translate into principles that change society is not profitable. Every revival shows that spiritual convictions improved the standard of living in territories.

There is the gospel as message that saves (personal) and gospel as ideology that transforms (territorial).

UNDERSTANDING MYSTERIES

Matthew 13:11 - It has been given unto us to know the mysteries.

A mystery is a hidden code of operation - spiritual truth briefed to God's people. The mysteries of the kingdom are finite knowledge you can hold. One is the mysteries of prayer.

The Need for Teaching on Prayer

Believers pray but largely shadow box, dissipating spiritual energy with little result. Jesus didn't just tell disciples "pray, pray, pray" - he taught them to pray.

Jesus' Ministry Pattern

Three years to change thinking, one encounter to bring the Holy Ghost and power. Empowerment is easy - the problem is when oil comes from a small container. Expand your capacity before the oil comes.

THE LORD'S LECTURE ON PRAYER - MATTHEW 6

Luke's account - Disciples noticed something about Jesus' prayer that produced results. James - The fervent and effectual prayer of the righteous makes it avail much.

PATTERN #1: Addressing Hypocrisy (Matthew 6:5)

Don't pray to be seen by men. Your reward would only be their perception.

PATTERN #2: Focus on God (Matthew 6:6)

Enter your closet - let your focus be on God, whether alone or among people. Your father shall reward you openly.

PATTERN #3: Avoid Vain Repetitions (Matthew 6:7)

Don't use vain repetitions as the heathen do. This doesn't mean you can't repeat prayer points - Jesus prayed three times using the same words.

God Knows Your Needs (Matthew 6:8)

Why pray if God knows? Because God gave man a will. God respects your will enough that He won't impose even eternal life without your declaration.

THE PATTERN OF PREVAILING PRAYER - MATTHEW 6:9-13

ELEMENT #1: OUR FATHER

Approach God knowing His fatherhood. Abba means my source, sustainer, defender. Romans 8:15 - We have received the spirit of adoption to call Him Abba Father.

Matthew 7:11 - Even evil fathers know how to give good gifts. How much more shall your Father in heaven give good things to them that ask.

Fathers give good things to them that ask. He loves you enough to respect your will. If you don't ask, He assumes you're not interested. Ye have not because ye ask not

God is jealous - not negative, but the foundation for responsibility. Let Him be your source, your everything. Not plan B, not Jesus and a charm.

ELEMENT #2: WHICH ART IN HEAVEN

Hebrews 11:6 - Without faith it's impossible to please God. He that comes must believe that He is.

Mark 11:24 - When you pray, believe that you receive it and you shall have it.

ELEMENT #3: HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME

Approach Him with reverence - Yirat Adonai, the fear of the Lord.

1 Samuel 2:30 - Them that honor me I will honor, they that despise me I will lightly esteem.

Pentecostals made a mistake - in building confidence we sometimes erode healthy reverence. God is both lion and lamb.

Hebrews 4:16 - Come boldly before the throne of grace. Boldness is not pride - it's coming without guilt because of Jesus' sacrifice. Yet reverence remains.

ELEMENT #4: THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE

Your priority is not just your need - pray His kingdom comes. Kingdom represents heaven's life and culture, sovereign rule of heaven finding expression.

2 Peter 3:9 - God's will: not that any perish, but all come to repentance.

3 John 2 - I wish you prosper and be in health.

If God's will was truly done, you wouldn't have prayer requests. Kingdom come means your life becomes a replica of heaven.

Matthew 6:10 - Your kingdom come in earth - the first earth is you, that earthen vessel.

His will made heaven heaven. Proverbs 4:18 - The path of the just shines ever brighter. Your yesterday should never be better than tomorrow.

ELEMENT #5: GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD

God is a giver. My bread is daily - His giving resets every 24 hours.

1 Timothy 5:8 - Any man that cannot provide for his family has denied the faith. Where is our bread if we handed this home to God?

How God Gives

Luke 6:38 - Give and it shall be given. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over shall men give.

God coordinates men to your life. Population is increasing - enough actors available. Don't put pressure on one person when 7.2 billion are available.

Exodus 3:21-22 - I will give you favor in sight of Egyptians. When you go, you shall not go empty.

Man is how God gives - He uses men. What God gives is capital that buys money, called the true riches. Money is a product - favor is what buys it.

Seven true riches exist. One is favor. Another is relationships - Proverbs 14:28 - In the multitude of men is a king's honor.

ELEMENT #6: FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS

Revelation: All Men Are Human

They fail and grow weary. The higher you rise, the more need to communicate forgiveness. Living without forgiveness is a life of sorrow.

Offending people has nothing to do with being evil - it's difference in perspective, values.

Forgiveness is an aspect of giving. Don't give money alone.

Difference Between Forgiveness and Forbearance

Forgiveness is for mistakes, limitations, ignorance. Forbearance means that weakness remains and you live with it forever.

For as long as you pin people down, you too remain down. You cannot rise when pinning others down.

Make up your mind to have peace. Psalm 119:165 - Great peace have them that love thy law, nothing shall offend them.

Peace is an asset - don't trade it.

ELEMENT #7: LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL

Lead Us Not Into Temptation

Men don't just get tempted - they are led. Not everything that looks good is good. Not every open door is anointed. Almost all troubles first appear as good.

Isaiah 30:21 - Thine ears shall hear a word saying, this is the way, walk in it.

You need divine direction to avoid temptation. Satan tempts you around what you truly desire. He waits till you have a need, then comes with an offer.

Deliver Us From Evil

Evil is a living spirit moving around looking for men. 1 John 5:19 - The whole world lieth in wickedness.

Everyone is a potential victim of wickedness if unassisted by God.

2 Peter 2:9 - The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations.

God is a deliverer. Pray sincerely: Deliver my family, ministry, business from evil.

CLOSING: THE DOXOLOGY

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

CONCLUSION

When you pray, approach with this mindset:

• I come to my Father
• I have faith to approach Him
• I approach with reverence
• My priority is that the kingdom comes
• He's a giver who gives daily through favor and men

Your prayer life becomes fruitful. You're not shadow boxing - intelligence is captured in your prayer.

Father, change my perspective on prayer. I am king and priest. I want to pray prayers that produce results

I approach you as Abba - my source, sustainer, defender. I come by faith, full of reverence. Let your kingdom find expression in my life. Let your will be done in my home, ministry, office

You are a giver. Send my daily bread. Give me what you have in store for me today

Forgive me my trespasses. I obtain grace to forgive those who trespass against me

Lead me not into temptation, O God. Deliver me from evil

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
