The Mystery of Altars

We have been on a teaching series titled Let Them Have Dominion. The goal is to bring the saints into higher levels of authority through light and understanding. This is part two, but because of the nature of the teaching we are calling it the mystery of altars.

In this kingdom we rise and reign through light. When God wants to help a man, He shortens the distance between you and your access to light.

Three goals for this teaching

1. To understand what altars are from a biblical standpoint.
2. To understand the relationship between altars and the dominion of the saints.
3. To learn how to raise altars and how to pull down altars.

The word altar is mentioned about 364 times in the Bible. The average believer thinks of a shrine or something superstitious, but the entire concept of altars was God's idea, never satan's.

Every altar in Genesis was raised by men who feared God and it was unto God. They erected altars and called upon the name of the Lord, or to honor a covenant or promise, or before or after disaster.

What is an altar? Three definitions

1. A place, platform, or system where the spirit realm makes contact with the physical realm on legal grounds. Luke 1:10-11

2. A platform for the authorization of laws and of spirits to function upon the earth.
3. A platform where covenants are activated and maintained.

The condition to be a man: you must be a spirit, that spirit must be hosted in a human body, and that spirit must have a solid connection of the mind containing the will, emotions, and intellect. Dominion is only for spirits hosted in human bodies.

Altars can be physical monuments, institutions, men, or non-material platforms.

The major assignment of an altar is to give authorization and continuity to any spiritual activity on earth, whether godly or demonic.

You can know the presence of an altar in any life, family, or region by the consistency of patterns and occurrences, whether good or bad.

Positive altars

• Salvation is powered by an altar. That is why anyone, anywhere, at any time can confess Jesus and be saved. The altar that powers it is the very throne God sits on.
• The blessing of the Jewish nation is powered by an altar, so the covenant insists they remain on top whether they know it or not.

Evidence of negative altars

All wrong addictions and negative patterns are powered by altars.

1. Mysterious diseases and infirmities, often passed through the bloodline.
2. All kinds of sexual perversions. The victims do not even know what is drawing them.
3. Depression and mental health issues. Most need more than counseling. Mark 5 (madman of Gadara)

4. Witchcraft and idol worship, a foundation that keeps drawing people back.
5. Stagnation and delays.
6. Near success syndrome. You see the beginning of things but never the end.
7. Barrenness and short-lived success. You enjoy every blessing but it does not last.

This is not about being wicked or kind. There are pastors, families, and businesses that are victims of altars. Association can also make you partake of altars. When the realm of the spirit was against Jonah, the whole boat suffered. Jonah 1

How altars work

All satanic altars are powered by one major altar: the altar of sin and iniquity. No matter what you do to other altars, if this one remains you have wasted your time.

Judges 6:1, Hosea 7:1, Romans 5:12-14, John 9:1-2

Three levels of sin (with respect to altars)

1. Personal sin. 1 John 1:8
2. Territorial sin. A territory can sin against God, and a territory can repent. Examples: Sodom and Gomorrah Genesis 18:20-23; Nineveh Jonah 1:1-3, Jonah 3:1-3. No matter how righteous you are, you carry the backlash of your territory until it changes.
3. Sin based on foundations and bloodlines. Psalm 11:3, Exodus 34:6-14. God said He would visit iniquity to the third and fourth generation, yet He makes a covenant with those who plead for mercy and destroy the altars.

All godly altars are powered by one major altar: the throne of grace, alongside the blood of the eternal covenant. The moment you come to Jesus and hand over your life, you subscribe to that covenant. It does not matter what your grandfather worshipped.

How to raise, maintain, and pull down altars

Today we do not raise altars by erecting physical structures or monuments. We learn from Elijah at Mount Carmel. 1 Kings 18:19-39

1. Repair the altar of the Lord that was broken down

   This is repentance and brokenness. Most people miss this step. Genuine repentance and brokenness, not confession or declaration, is where it starts. Moses pleaded for his people; David's heart smote him and he repented. 2 Samuel 24:1-14

2. Restore the word of God, the promises of God

   Elijah set up twelve stones according to the word God gave him. You must return to live by the word, not by tradition or a demonic template.

3. Engage the power of sacrifice

   There are levels of sacrifice upon the altar:

   • Yourself, a living sacrifice. Romans 12:1
   • Your praise and worship. Hebrews 13:15. Paul and Silas created a portal from prison.
   • Your prayers, the fire that must never go out. Leviticus 6:13
   • Your seed. A sacrifice is not a donation. It is tied to what the blood of the eternal covenant is bringing to an end. Seeds have different voices in the realm of the spirit.

4. Prophetic decrees and blessings

   1 Kings 18:33, 2 Samuel 24:15-25. David refused to offer to God that which cost him nothing, and the plague was stayed.

Noah built an altar and the Lord proclaimed that seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, would not cease. The power to restrain evil is captured in the understanding of altars. Genesis 8:20-22

Job kept building altars and offering sacrifices for his children, and satan could not touch them except when God granted permission.

Your first assignment in tearing down an evil altar is to rebuild an altar to the Lord over that family, not by a physical monument but by a spiritual approach: genuine repentance, a commitment to live by the word, and the sacrifice of your life, your praise, your prayers, and your seed.
