Created for His Glory

Psalm 86:9, Isaiah 43:5-7

We were created for God's glory — meaning you count in God's programme. It is the mandate and responsibility of every believer to give God glory.

Understanding the word "glory"

• Kabod (Hebrew) — honour, respect, distinction, importance. It speaks to the measure of the worth or value of a thing, resulting in praise. It is concerned with the weightiness of a thing.
• Doxa / Doxazo (Greek) — radiance, splendour. It means to make visible what was once hidden. It is concerned with the display, the radiance.

  • To praise, to extol, to hold in honour
  • To make re-known or make famous
  • To make the dignity and worth of a person or thing become manifest and acknowledged

Doxazo is concerned with the revelation of glory — not just awareness of it, but an experience that leaves a mandate: to make the dignity and worth of God become manifest and acknowledged, so that other people would agree with everything found in God.

Everything you find in your experience with God becomes a mandate upon you to reveal that to the nations. John 4:28

God never gives anyone a mandate that was not first their experience. Carrying out a mandate without a personal experience with God makes for a very poor witness.

Three Dimensions of God's Glory

There are many expressions of God's glory, but three dimensions stand in order of priority, captured in Jeremiah 9:23:

1. Wisdom
2. Might

That is why the enemy fights these three things in the lives of believers.

1. Wisdom — the outworkings of the intelligence of the Spirit flowing through an individual.

   The degree to which the wisdom of God flows through a life is the degree to which the glory of God will be captured and revealed. Most believers do not know that destiny actualisation — and even glorifying the name of the Lord — is wisdom-dependent.

   When a believer begins to work with God, learning scripture, investing in prayer, something begins to happen to their understanding. They arrive at a realm where they carry a quality of wisdom called the wisdom of the just. Luke 1:17

   Levels of wisdom:

   • Sophia — scientific wisdom
   • Natural wisdom — common sense
   • Demonic wisdom — wisdom inspired by the fraternity of demon spirits
   • The wisdom of God

   The proof of the presence of wisdom is the quality of the decisions made. When truth destroys, it is not wisdom. Everywhere mighty works to the glory of God are built, it is the wisdom of God at work. Proverbs 24:3

   The presence of wisdom cannot be faked — a man's works implicate him.

   When the wisdom of God is accessed, life changes. Deuteronomy 34:9, Colossians 1:9, James 1:5, 1 Kings 3:12

   Those who remain spiritually asleep, sleep on everything — including their visions and dreams. Night is the absence of light, not merely darkness. Every decision made without light is a decision made in the night, and mistakes happen in the night.

   • Seven years were added to a man's destiny — Jacob in the house of Laban — because of decisions made without light.

   Day is whenever your light comes. Matthew 13:25 — according to the parable Jesus gave, seeds are words. Proverbs 3:7

   Wisdom is the vehicle that speed moves on.

   Ways to access wisdom:

   1. A cry for wisdom in prayer
   2. Light from scripture
   3. Impartation from proven carriers of wisdom

   Wisdom is enhanced during meditation.

2. Power or Might — the second way the glory of God is manifest in the world of men.

   Power is the ability to produce result:

   • The ability to compel compliance
   • The ability to compel desired outcomes

3. Riches or Wealth

   When wealth is seen as a tool that empowers a believer to reveal God's glory, to live a comfortable life, to be efficient, and to fund the programme of God — the orientation has been properly adjusted. Kingdom come has been added to the concept, and it changes everything.

   When believers pursue finances outside of God and outside of the kingdom, it becomes a blind and vain pursuit that sells the self and carnality, and leads to destruction.

   Every fruit that eats itself is termed rotten.

   The principle of fruit bearing:

   • Fruit points back to the tree that birthed it
   • Fruit is visible
   • Fruit serves others

   Poverty strips men of dignity. There are things that happen in a man's life when he is poor:

   1. He will steal
   2. He will tell lies
   3. He will compromise

   Genesis 17:6

   Prosperity and finances do not necessarily corrupt spiritual life. When spiritual life is affected by wealth, it is a result of poor mentorship — of simply having "money, money, money" without kingdom orientation.

   Two ways resources come into the hands of people:

   1. Value — if value is not needed and useful within the context of a civilisation, poverty follows. Value must be packaged, refined, and served with excellence.
   2. Favour through relationships — a man is as powerful as the relationships he holds.

   There is glory in wealth.

Three Platforms to Return Glory to God

1. Fruit Bearing — John 15:8

   Exploits cannot be done as a believer in isolation — only as a witness. Ephesians 3:10

   It must be Jesus revealed and Jesus glorified. To see Jesus glorified, bear fruit — and when men look at the fruit, point them to Him.

   The end of every argument is genuine result.

2. Sustained Impact

   One of the ways God is glorified is when results last. Longevity gives people enough room to see, to criticise, to probe, to repent, time to be convinced, and then to be converted. Psalm 3:5

   Recommended message: Ichabod — on the subject of Longevity. John 15:16 — that your fruits remain.

   The higher the rise, the more painful the fall. Psalm 92:14

3. Testimonies and Public Declaration of His Faithfulness

   Psalm 92:1-4, Psalm 96:1-9, John 2:9-11

   There is a difference between testifying — declaring God's goodness — and bragging. Bragging places self at the centre and directs people to focus on the individual. That is not testifying; God is not glorified in that. 1 Peter 2:9

The Mandate of This Teaching

The mandate is to experience the God of the Bible, and to derive from that experience: wisdom, power, and wealth — among many other possibilities that come from walking with God. When God places a man in that position, the awareness must remain at the back of the mind: I owe Him glory.

That is the idea of Doxazo — not merely displaying His glory, but using results to direct the attention of men back to Him.

Use the results to bring glory to Him. Hide behind the cross and let men see Him.

2 Corinthians 9:8
