The Foundation of Enlargement

God enlarges His people — and He expects two responses: expectation and responsibility. Psalm 18:19 declares that He brought us into a large place because He delighted in us. Deuteronomy 12:20 shows a people holding expectation: "When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy borders as He has promised thee." And Isaiah 54:1–3 brings in the responsibility: "Enlarge the place of thy tent, stretch forth the curtains of thy habitation, spare not, lengthen thy cords, strengthen thy stakes." God will do it. You should expect it. And you must take responsibilities — then you will be enlarged.

Why God Enlarges His People

  1. To Fulfill His Covenant and Agenda

God wanted to bless the nations through Abraham, but He couldn't until Abraham was enlarged. Genesis 12:1–3 shows God calling Abraham out so He could bless all families of the earth through him. Deuteronomy 8:18 confirms: "He gives you power to get wealth to establish His covenant." Your enlargement becomes the basis for which God's purpose finds expression on the earth.

  2. To Demonstrate His Glory and Power

Isaiah 60:1–3"Arise, shine, for your light is come. The glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." Darkness covers the earth, but God's glory is seen upon you. When God enlarges you, He uses your life to reveal His glory. You can't glorify God if you are not enlarged. The measure of God's glory seen through you is proportional to the degree of your enlargement.

  3. To Entrust Greater Responsibility

God gives according to a man's capacity. He came with talents but didn't give everyone equal amounts — one received five, another two, another one. If God is enlarging you, He wants to entrust more responsibility to your care. Luke 16:10–12: if you are faithful in little, you will be faithful in much.

  4. To Preserve a Generation

Joseph said it plainly in Genesis 45:7–8: "God sent me ahead of you to preserve a generation." Your enlargement is the reason someone will be alive tomorrow, the reason a destiny will be realized. People will find meaning, calling, ordination, and safety because of what God does through your life.

  6. As an Expression of His Love

Psalm 18:19 — He brought him into a large place because He delighted in him. When God is raising you up, it is His love being poured out. No circumstance should break you — the everlasting arm of God is underneath you. We walk by faith, but we depend on mercy.

What Enlargement Produces

Supernatural enlargement is a divine act that results in expanding a person's:

  • Territory — Demographic, geographical, and every sphere of influence. Genesis 13:14–15: "As far as your eyes can see, I have given you."
  • Authority and Influence — A voice that shapes decisions, forms ideologies, commands leadership, and bears credibility. Daniel 6:3: the king thought to make Daniel president over all the realms.
  • Resources and Wealth — Not vanity but capacity for functionality. You need resources to advance the kingdom and help humanity. Deuteronomy 8:18: power to get wealth to establish His covenant.
  • Fruitfulness and Impact — The ability to produce undeniable kingdom impact: expressing God's will, replicating His life, exercising His authority, and manifesting His wisdom. Genesis 1:28: be fruitful, multiply, replenish, subdue, and have dominion.
  • Intimacy with God — A sustained, uninterrupted fellowship where the presence of God becomes a defense system around your life. What Moses carried for 40 years — the manifest presence of God that made the nation indestructible — God wants to rest upon you.
  • Capacity — The increase of your soul's ability to conduct and express what your spirit already carries.

Understanding Capacity Enlargement

At salvation, God regenerated your spirit. Your spirit is now identical with Christ — complete in Him. 1 John 4:17: "As He is, so are we in this world." Colossians 2:9–10: "In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and you are complete in Him."

But while your spirit is perfected, your soul is not yet operating at the frequency of your spirit. That is the problem God is solving through capacity enlargement. The Holy Spirit and the Word are working together to bring your soul into the experience of your spirit.

There is no sickness in your spirit. There is no fear in your spirit. There is no failure in your spirit. But when you examine your soul, it is littered with all of these things. Capacity development is where the soul catches up with the spirit.

Three reasons capacity enlargement is critical:

  • Purpose is released in proportion to capacity. Matthew 25:15: he gave to every man according to his ability. If your capacity is not enlarged, your purpose cannot find expression.
  • Calling without capacity results in collapse. Samson had mighty gifts but collapsed in the lap of a woman — not because God wasn't strong, but because he didn't develop capacity in holiness.
  • Increase is a function of capacity. The effort a man puts in primary school produces little. The same man with developed capacity achieves enormous results with far less effort.

Areas of Capacity Development

  1. Love for God and Love for People

Enlargement and increase are byproducts of genuine love. Matthew 22:37–38: love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. John 21:15–17: Jesus asked Peter three times, "Lovest thou me?" and each affirmation was met with an enlarged commission — from lambs, to sheep, to feeding all His sheep. The one who loves God is the one to whom He commits authority, resources, and dominion. Love for people is expressed in virtue: joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, temperance (Galatians 5:22–23).

  2. Sacrifice and Sacrificial Living

Romans 12:1 — present your bodies as a living sacrifice. David refused to offer to God that which cost him nothing (2 Samuel 24:24). Trees that bear fruit never eat their own fruit — they give it out. That is why they keep producing. Let your time, money, energy, and expertise be on the altar. You are buying your future.

  3. Management and Stewardship

Luke 16:10–12: a man must be faithful in little for much to be given, and faithful in another man's business for his own to be given. 1 Corinthians 4:2: it is required of a steward that he be found faithful. Seven critical areas of stewardship:

    • The grace of God on your life1 Peter 4:10: minister the grace you have received as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
    • TimeEphesians 5:15–16: walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time.
    • RelationshipsGalatians 6:10: do good to all men, especially those of the household of faith. Some men are portals, some are seasons, some are gates. Manage them with honor, love, sincerity, and value.
    • Financial resources — Misbehave with money and watch how money deals with you.
    • Energy1 Corinthians 6:20: you were bought with a price. Glorify God in your body. Don't waste your strength on wine, women, and worthless things.
    • Positions — Every position God gives you must produce a legacy. Manage it well. Let it be said that it was when you came that transformation happened.
    • Mind and mental capacity — Enlarge your vision by standing on your watch in prayer, in study, and in drawing from mentors.
  4. Prayer

Luke 18:1: men ought always to pray and not faint. Jeremiah 33:3: "Call unto me and I will answer, and show you great and mighty things that you know not." Isaiah 40:31: they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Prayer gives you access to uncommon wisdom, an advantage others cannot access, and the stamina to weather storms.

  5. The Word of God

2 Timothy 2:15: study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not be ashamed. Joshua 1:8: meditate on the book of the Law day and night — then you shall make your way prosperous and have good success. Give yourself to reading. Readers are leaders.

  6. Enduring Trials and Persecution

Prepare for storms. Every skyscraper is built with extra resilience because at great heights, the wind is different. Build capacity for storms through prayer, the Word, and integrity. If you have skeletons in your cupboard, they will show up the day you reach the top. Build with truth. Don't cut corners.

  7. Holy Living

Don't let the corruption of this world drown you. The woman Jezebel sat upon many waters — nations, kings, rivers of seduction. Demonic princes sit on the waters of idolatry, immorality, and lying. Live above it. Rise above the tide.

  8. Humility, Brokenness, and Self-Denial

James 4:6: God resists the proud but gives more grace to the humble. 1 Peter 5:6: humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and in due season He will increase you. When you humble yourself, you shall be exalted. When you exalt yourself, you shall be abased.

It is too late for the devil to stop you. God is bringing you into a large place. Every limitation that has tormented you — they disappear forever. The Egyptians you have seen, you shall see them no more. Grace, grace, grace in Jesus' mighty name.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
