God is the first architect of civilization

We cannot neglect the place of God in building a civilization. From the very beginning of the Bible, God is the first architect of civilization

Genesis 1:1 to Genesis 1:2

After God created the earth there was chaos on the face of the earth, and he returned to recreate its surface. He demonstrated competence and creativity restoring order

This reveals the cardinal place of God's input in building any viable civilization

Genesis 3

The major calamity of this dispensation began here. The serpent came into the garden and beguiled the man to rebel against God

When man rebelled, two parallel governments were set in motion: the government of light, which is God's, and the government of darkness, which is the devil's

From that event it became imperative for God's input over any civilization to find expression.

Before the devil came on the scene, civilizations would have been built by man's cooperation with God, using the potentials God gave him

But now, if God's input is not installed over a civilization, no matter how competent, educated and civilized a people are, they cannot build a lasting institution or a lasting civilization

So it is critical to look into scripture for what we must emphasize in rebuilding this great nation, Nigeria, for posterity and prosperity for every citizen

2 Chronicles 7:14

Lands can be healed. We are in a time when we require healing across every sector of our nation

We face issues that are not surmountable and will require God's input to surmount. So it is critical to seek the face of God to reset our civilization

There are a few emphases we must pay attention to as we recalibrate the spiritual climate that impacts this civilization

1. Intimacy with God

   As a people under God, it is imperative for us to begin to call upon the name of the Lord

   Nigeria does not lack competent people. We have some of the brightest minds in the world and some of the greatest leaders in the world

   Ephesians 6:12

   We war not just against circumstances or natural situations. To give viability to the competencies God has given us, we must come back to seeking his face in humility

   We have experienced people, technocrats, intellectuals and giants. But we cannot on our own rebuild this civilization and bring the shared prosperity we trust for everyone

   We are not alone in this space. There are demonic entities and spirits all over that want to frustrate what is going on. There are also wicked and unreasonable men saturating the landscape

   If hearts are to be transformed and the forces of darkness short-circuited so that God's prosperity for his people finds expression, we must return to calling upon the name of the Lord

   This is not an assignment only for pastors. It is for everybody who occupies any form of leadership position, because positions of leadership are scepters

   If you are a father over a family, a government agent, a priest in the house of God or a captain of industry, God recognizes the influence you wield as a scepter

   When we assemble and call upon the name of the Lord, over and above our mental competencies, there will be interventions that God will engender

2. Values only God can impart

   Only by interacting with God can value systems be inculcated. You can never secure truth outside God. You can never secure righteousness outside God. You can never secure integrity outside God

   The values required to build any lasting institution, any great nation and any viable civilization are obtainable only from God

   person

   When we seek the face of God in prayer and learn the ways of God, the Spirit in his benevolence and magnanimity begins to impart these values to us

   Identity

   One of the greatest crises of any civilization is a lack of identity. The battles we fight and the warfares we contend with come to challenge our identity

   Poverty can redefine your identity. Oppression can redefine your identity.

   But when you draw your reference from God over the things happening around you, God can furnish light to give you an identity no circumstance can destroy

   1 Peter 2:9

   If we understand that we are kings and royal people, there are things we will not do because they are not consistent with the code of nobility

   Kings do not beg. Kings are people of nobility. They value time and they value the things committed to them

   When people function below even the value system you expect of humanity, you understand that something is wrong with their identity

   Direction and blessing

   Great people, if they go through their history, will find a gap they cannot explain. Only the finger of God can fill it

   I know the place of diligence and hard work, and we emphasize it.

   But every great person here will tell you, once upon a time God helped me, that is why I am where I am

   Beyond identity and direction, God also blesses people, and that blessing is empowerment to prosper. Dominion requires another level of empowerment to prosper

   Righteousness

   When we come under God and serve under God, the power for righteousness is also imparted

   Proverbs 14:34

   There is no way you can live a righteous life without God's intervention in your life

   Beyond the intelligence humanity has, if we do not develop the character of God in righteousness, we will violate the code of service, the code of honor and the code of leadership

   Young people, trust God to impart the grace for righteousness. So that when you are given a job without supervision, you get it done.

   So that when you are entrusted with authority without supervision, you do it to the best of your ability

   This virtue can only be imparted in our dealing with God. These are the virtues upon which nations are built

   A nation with people of the right identity, with vision, and who function by the code of righteousness is a nation nothing can stop, that will ever be great

3. Unity and oneness

   Matthew 12:25

   We need to complement ourselves. What can make us unite without witchcraft, jealousy and fighting here and there is when we all find our reference in God

   God becomes the reason I love my brother. God becomes the reason I love my neighbor. That liquid love that comes from God begins to unite us

   When we are united around shared value, shared purpose and the reference of God, our corporate capacity geometrically begins to amplify the dignity, the value and the honor of our nation

Everything we do is critical. Education, training, productivity and invention are all critical. But we cannot exonerate God from our civilization

Invitation to come back to God

Come back to God to get your identity. Come back to God to get direction, to be blessed, and to live by the code of righteousness so that you make your mark in your generation
