Building an Altar That Outlasts You

An altar is not just a place. It is a covenant. Every lifted hand, every tear, every whispered name becomes an inheritance your children will not have to fight for.

The focus of this altar is consistency and intentionality. Every time we gather here to pray, we are deliberate. Psalm 65:2 — Unto him that answers prayer shall all flesh gather. We are coming not as a one-off engagement but to build something — a memorial upon which God will secure intervention and blessings for many generations. We are literally fighting the battles of generations to come and securing heritage for them.

Hebrews 11:6 — whoever comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is the rewarder of those who diligently seek him. We are not religious people making noise at a deity we do not know. We are calling upon a God we know — and he is alive.

The Word for This Night: Healing the Emotions

The Lord speaks: Tonight shall be a night of healing the emotions of people. As that happens, there shall be restoration of homes, families, and destinies.

One of the primary ways Satan disrupts God's agenda in families is through emotional crisis. When Satan gets the emotions of people twisted, he has access to families. The singular root of bitterness — if it can be uprooted — all the healings being sought will be effected instantly.

When bitterness is born, it produces distrust, then unforgiveness. These are the channels through which Satan breaks into the family and causes havoc. And the Lord says tonight: he shall release the soothing balm of Gilead to heal the souls of men.

First Prayer: The Grace to Forgive

The first prayer is for grace to forgive — anyone and everyone who has brought hurt and pain. Especially your spouse.

You are not forgiving because they have repented. You are not forgiving because they are reasonable. Matthew 18:22 — if your brother offends you seventy times seven in a single day, you are to forgive. A person capable of that level of offense is not a reasonable person. But Jesus still commands forgiveness. And the reason is this: some hurt is humanly impossible to let go of. That is why this night exists — because you cannot let go except you are helped of God.

If you cannot let go, you cannot let God in. And if you do not let the Father in, the home cannot be restored. James 3:16 — where envy and strife exist, there is every evil work. Bitterness is not just emotional weight — it opens the door to stagnation, poverty, sickness, and death. He that breaks a hedge, the serpent will bite.

And understand this: we are not telling you to immediately re-enter active engagement with someone who poses danger to your life. There are situations where elders and leaders must be involved to help restore. What we are doing tonight is freeing your heart — setting aside every weight and every sin that so easily besets, so that the channel is clear.

What Bitterness Does to the Body and Mind

Bitterness and an unforgiving heart do not only defile spiritually — they choke the mind. When the heart carries sustained offense:

• Thoughts are clouded — you cannot make decisive decisions that advance your life
• Inspiration is shut out — wisdom and creativity cannot flow through a heart weighed down
• The righteousness of God — which empowers you to reign — cannot operate freely
• The help of God withdraws — and Isaiah 12:3 says with joy you shall draw out of the wells of salvation. The well is the Holy Spirit. When the joy is gone, you lose access to drawing from that well.

Proverbs 17:22 — a merry heart does good like medicine, but a heavy heart dries the bones. This is the source of what doctors call psychosomatic ailments — conditions with no detectable physical cause, yet the person is genuinely sick. Sustained bitterness raises blood pressure and leads to stroke. The bone is literally dried by a spirit of heaviness.

We must learn the law of advance forgiveness. No matter what happens — no matter what a spouse, child, or sibling does — we forgive in advance in Christ. Otherwise, when the inevitable offense comes, we will go down with a crisis of ailment.

Five Interventions Unlocked by Forgiveness and Unity

1. Restored mind and productivity — Life is lived through the mind. He said, I will do nothing without thy mind (Ephesians 3:20). The mind is the organ for manifestation on the earth. Wherever my sanity and thought life have been affected due to hurt, there is healing now.
2. Restoration of the help of God — The help of God is only available through the Holy Ghost. When hurt lives in you, you cannot draw from the well. Tonight, the help of God is restored — interventive, restorative, and preservative.
3. Physical healing — A heavy heart dries the bones. God is reversing sicknesses and diseases associated with bitterness — high blood pressure, strokes, and psychosomatic conditions attached to the root of bitterness.
4. The anointing flows — Psalm 133 — how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. It is like the oil upon the head of Aaron flowing down to the beard, down to the skirts. The head is the husband. The beard is the wife. The body is the children. Unity in the family is the structure through which the anointing flows — from head to body to the next generation.
5. The commanded blessing — For there God commanded the blessing — even life forevermore. Unity does not just attract blessing; it causes God himself to command it. Families that have wealth on the outside but no life, no harmony — the blessing is there in form but not in reality. When peace is secured, God commands the blessing — and the blessing of God makes rich and adds no sorrow.

Six Benefits of Unity, Forgiveness, and a Clear Heart

• Restored productivity and inspiration
• The help of God is available
• Physical healing — sicknesses tied to bitterness reversed
• The anointing flows through the family structure
• The commanded blessing rests on the home
• Prayers are answered — Psalm 65:2 — unto him that answers prayers shall all flesh gather. When the channel is clear, the answer comes.

1 Peter 3:7 — husbands are to deal with their wives according to knowledge, so that their prayers will not be hindered. The prayer altar matters. But if there is no unity in the home — depending on you — you are wasting your time in prayer. Unity is the prerequisite that makes intercession effective.

The Holy Ghost says: restore your family devotion altar. The family that prays together stays together. This old practice — morning devotion, families gathering in prayer before the day begins — is to be restored. Do not let it die.

Breaking Demonic Atmospheres Over Families

There is a demonic atmosphere resident upon many families. Some atmospheres operate in the likeness of pride — so every small thing escalates. Some in insecurity, some in anger, some in distrust. Some people carry these atmospheres like a mask — they walk into every room with it, and as long as it remains, the family cannot prosper.

Psalm 133 — when unity is secured, a different atmosphere is created. When unity is disrupted, a demonic atmosphere fills the vacuum — one where civil conversations become three years of animosity because the atmosphere was already incubated.
