What Is Yours Will Come To You

The kingdom of heaven is like a man who hired laborers into his vineyard at different hours of the day, and when evening came, paid them what was owed, beginning from the last to the first.

Matthew 20:1-9

There are three things to draw out of this as we pray.

1. You Were Not Made To Be Idle

The Lord ensured that every laborer had something to do. Whether you are looking for a job, or trusting God for ideas, inspiration, or capital, God is releasing it now.

• Everything I require to take off and serve God, I receive it now.

2. What Belongs To You Will Be Called For

Many people are stranded because what belongs to them has been hijacked or tied down.

• A structural engineer completed a billion-naira contract on trust, deployed his own resources, and was abandoned by the client for two years, unable to recover his money.
• A young couple saved to buy land, and before they could develop it, someone raised a structure on it and they have been fighting over it since.

The master says, "Give them their wages." What is yours will be given to you.

3. You Will Receive Beyond What You Merit

The laborer hired at the eleventh hour worked only one hour but was paid a full day's wage.

There is a place where you get what you deserve, and another place where beyond what you deserve is given to you.

Anybody sitting on what belongs to another, if they do not release it, may the sword of judgment catch up with them.

Why We Break Bread

Jesus said unless we eat his flesh and drink his blood, we have no life in us, and whoever does dwells in him and lives by him.

1. To Live By Him

   There are two ways to eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus. The first is by eating the word.

   John 1:1, 14

   Jeremiah 15:16

   The second is on the communion table, where Jesus took bread and said, "This is my body which is given for you," and took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new testament in my blood."

   Luke 22:14-20

2. Because Jesus Commanded Remembrance

   Jesus said, "This do in remembrance of me."

3. Because The Early Church Practiced It

   The Jewish church continued steadfastly in breaking of bread.

   Acts 2:42, 46

   Paul carried the practice to the Gentile church.

   Acts 20:7

   1 Corinthians 11:23-25

4. Because It Affirms Our Oneness

   When we bless the cup we share in the blood of Christ, and when we break the bread we share in the body of Christ, showing that though many, we are one body.

   1 Corinthians 10:14-21

5. Because It Proclaims The Lord's Death

   As often as we eat this bread and drink this cup, we show forth the Lord's death.

   1 Corinthians 11:25-26

   1 Corinthians 15:3-4

   Demons are cast out here. Souls are saved here. Healings happen here. Everything that happens when we preach the gospel happens on the communion table.
