Philip Opened His Mouth

Acts 8:35 — Philip opened his mouth and began at the same scripture and preached unto him Jesus.

The most powerful television is to tell your vision. The most effective radio is to do what God says, read the vision in your mind, and then do it. People wait for equipment, for platforms, for cars — but they already have a mouth. Philip was not a pope. Philip was not an archbishop. Philip opened his mouth and preached Christ. And a noble man, a leader of a nation, said: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

The word of God must continue. A growing church is where people continuously talk about Jesus — to people in their life, their town, their city, their village. Wherever you find someone, talk to them about Jesus. This is the job Philip did. And as they went on their way, they came to water. It doesn't matter how hot the journey gets — you will eventually get to water. When you continue with the vision through the dryness and the pain, water comes.

The Encounter on the Damascus Road

Acts 9:1-6 — Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, journeyed toward Damascus. And suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven.

Here is a man whose stated mission was to destroy the church. His letters authorised the arrest and binding of every believer he could find. And God — instead of sending thunder, instead of responding with darkness — showed him light.

God saw beneath the threat. He saw the warrior. He saw the passion and the energy and the absolute commitment, and he said: the reason you have done all you are doing is that you can do it better when you come to me. The energy you use for evil, you can use for righteousness.

If you were a dancer before salvation, just change the song. If you were a fighter, fight for God now with the same ferocity. Do not paralyse what God gave you because you are now in church. Energise it. Double it. Whatever you did for the enemy before, do it better now for God.

The Question That Changes Everything

When Saul fell to the ground and heard the voice of Jesus, trembling and astonished, he asked: Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?

This is the question. Not: Lord, what will you do for me? Not: Lord, when will my breakthrough come? The question that unlocks divine partnership is: Lord, what do you want to do with me?

Saul had already been doing something — for the wrong employer. Now he has encountered a new employer and the instinct is immediate: what is the assignment? God's answer: Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

The call of ministry is a must. No one who ever sincerely asked God this question received silence. God always has something that must be done. There are no vacancies in his kingdom that have been filled. There is always a need, always an open door, always a city, always a harvest.

The man who brought a visiting minister to a gathering may not know what God intends to do through that connection. But as he put his hand in the hand of the one who knows what must be done, everything becomes clear in time.

You Become a Doer, You Become a Grower

When you stop giving, you start dying. When you stop doing, you stop growing. When you want to live, start giving. When you want your ministry to flourish, stop waiting for perfect conditions and start doing what is in your hand to do.

Jesus, on the cross, took in his hands the blood — not gold, not disciples, not fame — and carried it to the throne of God. That is what mattered. Your life is not about accumulating things that cannot follow you beyond this world. It is about becoming an instrument in God's hand that releases what heaven values.

If what you have is less than what you need, give what you have to get what you need. This is the economy of the Kingdom.
