Navigating Prophetic Seasons, Part Two: God's Prophetic Agenda

Our lives on earth are fragmented into seasons, and our excellence is predicated on the ability to discern and take advantage of prophetic seasons. Genesis 1:14, Isaiah 43:18-19

Recap of part one

Overdwelling in the past has an effect. A negative past plants fear, discouragement, and deflates your passion; a positive past brings complacency, pride, and indiscipline. Remember not the former things. Philippians 3:13-14

A new prophetic season demands:

1. Discernment and flexibility, because it comes in an unfamiliar form.
2. Strength and courage. Joshua 1:5-7
3. Obedience to scripture and to prophetic instructions.

Five prophetic seasons God is opening: the harvest of souls, abundance of grace, the fulfillment of ancient prophecies, intense spiritual warfare, and a season of rewards.

Discerning the times

Like the sons of Issachar, we must understand the times. 1 Chronicles 12:32, Revelation 3:22

End-time events fall into three categories: moral and spiritual decline; political and sociological upheaval (wars, nation against nation); and economic and atmospheric events.

Three layers of scripture

1. The archaeological and historic layer.
2. The doctrinal layer, the spiritual synergy connecting Genesis to Revelation. Doctrine is fixed; your assignment is to discover and communicate it accurately.
3. The prophetic layer. God can draw a message from a verse beyond its contextual meaning. Galatians 2:2 (it takes revelation to ascend realms). This must never be exalted above doctrine.

Three tests for doctrine: it must be in the Old Testament, in the ministry of Jesus, and in the lives of the early apostles. Ephesians 3:1-5

Three levels of the anointing

1. The anointing within, from being grafted into Christ, to produce His character.
2. The anointing upon, for service, when you discover your place in God's agenda.
3. The engracing that comes as a reward for discerning and aligning with God's current program.

If God moves right and you move left, you are in trouble. 1 Corinthians 2:10, Matthew 10:27

Four things God is doing now

1. Purifying the church

   1 Peter 4:17, Daniel 5:27, John 15:2-3, Ephesians 5:13-14

   Judgment in the house of God is not destruction but purification unto greater glory. God cleans us by bringing words to us. This purifying is everyone's business, like taking your bath. The three areas: moral decadence, apostasy, and error (which comes from ignorance and imbalance).

2. Enlightenment, an abundance of revelation

   1 Timothy 4:13-16, Acts 20:27-32, Colossians 4:12

   Three dimensions:

   • Restoration to doctrine.
   • Correcting the error of imbalance, the "knowing only" syndrome. Acts 18:24-28
   • Connecting revelations to divine purpose. Isolated revelations on prosperity, angels, or healing do not profit until synergized into the bigger picture. Purpose answers the question why.

   God is also bringing redefinitions of the gospel, the great commission, revival, and being a witness. The great commission is threefold: world evangelization, discipleship, and societal or territorial transformation.

3. Access to greater and unusual dimensions of spiritual power

   Joel 2:23-24, Matthew 9:16-17

   The former and the latter rain. God is submitting people to intense consecration, fasting, and prayer to enlarge their capacity for the new wine. You will see men and women walk in unusual power: prophetic, revelatory, financial. The anointing is the ability to produce God's dimension of results, not what makes people fall down. It has no age restriction and every denomination will encounter this outpouring.

4. Divine commissionings

   John 15:16, Matthew 10:16, Acts 26:16-19, Matthew 25, John 1:6-7

   Heavenly callings, mandates, and assignments, requiring wisdom, not just zeal. There will be strange callings. Three ministries not to judge: the woman at the well, the madman of Gadara, and Mary Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils. Luke 8:1-3

   There will also be an upgrade of current mandates. There is always more to your calling than you first see, so keep it open-ended. God adds mandates because of the unfaithfulness of others, as in the parable of the talents. Every mandate has destinies connected to it, so obedience is of the essence. One of the scariest things is to be alive but not in God's program. Respect your assignment, no matter how small. Not everyone will have a global ministry, but every believer must be a witness through their life, wealth, or work.
