The Certainty of Kingdom Truth

The goal is not that you believe simply because you respect the teacher. You must understand the basis from which these truths came, so that your conviction rests not only on your confidence in a person but on the validity of the truth itself.

1 Timothy 4:15 — Meditate upon these things, give yourself wholly to them, and your profiting will not only be present but will appear unto all.

Luke 1:1-4 — Luke wrote to Theophilos to give him perfect understanding — accurate understanding of all things from the very first — so that he would know the certainty of those things in which he had been instructed. It was Paul who said: "I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able."

We must build convictions that rest not only on the speaker but on the integrity of God and his word.

The Mysteries of the Kingdom

Matthew 13:11 — Jesus said, "It has been given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven."

The kingdom of God represents every sphere where the influence of God can reach — heaven, earth, and below. But the kingdom of heaven is that portion where the life and culture of heaven has been allowed to find expression. There are mysteries — bodies of spiritual truth — that make heaven the way it is. It is not just because God is there; there is a body of spiritual knowledge that produces those results. Jesus is saying these same truths can be reproduced within your territory.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done in the earth as it is in heaven.

These truths are called mysteries not because God enjoys them being secrets, but because they can only be revealed by the Spirit — they cannot be unlocked by secular education alone.

The Law of Value

Proverbs 18:16 — "A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men."

Value is a measure of usefulness. To be valuable means to be perceived as useful within the context of a territory or civilization.

Value breaks into two dimensions:

1. Virtue — Your virtue is a measure of your closeness to the character of Christ. This is the first and deeper dimension of value. When you contend to sustain the character of Christ, you become difficult to ignore. The world is looking for what only Christ can give — the fruit of the Spirit, patience, joy, peace. You are valuable to the degree to which you walk in partnership with the Word of God and the Spirit of God to sustain the character traits that reflect Christ.

   • Every realm has skilled people. What becomes your edge when everyone around you is skilled? Your closeness to the character of Christ.

   • Deal ruthlessly with rebellion — in yourself and in those you lead. Whatever comes from rebellion comes pregnant; it will happen again.

2. Transactable Skill — Your intellectual prowess, professional competence, and expertise. These are wonderful but they are secondary. You know you are valuable by who pursues you. There are certain skills that when you have them, only the poor will look for you. There are certain skills that when you have them, only your tribesmen will look for you. But there are skills that when you have them, all men will look for you.

   • The kingdom operates on a reward system. It is fraud to expect rewards when you are not valuable.
   • Rise to a level of value where no price becomes unfair — where someone can look at you and say, "Let it be a privilege for me to bless you."

All blessings come from God through men to men. Nothing comes from God directly to man. Your promotion — from God through men to men. Your miracle — from God through men to men. If God says yes and the middle man says no, the answer is no.

Four Categories of Destiny Helpers

Number one: Divine Connectors

2 Kings 5 — Naaman was a valiant captain of the Syrian army, but he was leprous. A little slave girl said, "Oh, that my master would go to meet a prophet in Israel." Divine connectors do not have what it takes to bless you — but they can link you with who has what it takes. They come in fashions that are not receivable. A bus conductor waving a flyer. A child speaking a word. A stranger in a salon. You will need discernment to identify them, because they come in forms that are not naturally receivable.

Number two: Men of Influence

These are gatekeepers. They have resources, track record, and credibility. There are times you have the skill and the gift, but you do not have access to the gate. You need someone already at the gate to recommend you.

The body of Jesus hung on the cross and no prayer warrior could bring it down. It took a man of influence called Joseph of Arimathea. Joseph was dying in prison with his dream. The king sent for Joseph with one decree — a man sent for another man — and brought him out of his dungeon. Not God sent for Joseph.

Honor men of influence vocally, unashamedly. Do not insult blessed people. Do not neglect people's track records. The moment you dishonor men, you close the door for access.

Number three: Gifted People

Sometimes you need skilled people — not advisers — you need people who can get the job done. The biggest companies in the world do not necessarily have a crowd; they have a few people with the mind of nations.

Lord, minimize my wastage by bringing people who are nations in one person. Send gifted people — a gifted driver, a gifted representative — so that what has been opened by prayer is not carelessly closed by poor representation. In Jesus name, amen.

1 Samuel 16:17-18

Number four: Burdenbearers

Ruth 1:16 — Ruth said to Naomi, "Entreat me not to leave thee... where thou goest I will go, where thou lodgest I will lodge, thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God."

Burdenbearers are trusted, faithful people who will stay with you through storms until your glory is revealed. If you find ten of these people in your life, you are the most fortunate person alive.

Burdenbearers are an endangered species. In the presence of interest, everybody loves you. But when you carry the cross, only John will stand there. The applause of men is not necessarily a reflection of their loyalty.

Every great leader knows this — be careful when men say "become our king", because the same men will say "crucify him."

Do not just pray for burdenbearers — be one. Love your leaders, your pastors, your community unconditionally. When you truly become a burdenbearer, you hold a rare and powerful position in God's economy.

Simon of Cyrene took the cross of Jesus when Jesus fell and could not carry it to Golgotha. He was not volunteering out of sentiment — God positioned him. Africa took Jesus to the cross, and that is why the glory that follows must come upon this continent.

I cannot promise you that you will not have challenges. I only promise you victory. But between the challenge and the victory, you will not only need God — you will need men. Not men who want you to explain everything. Men who can look at you and say, "I don't need an explanation. I just came to hold your hands."
