New Creatures for the Kingdom
God's first order of business was not to give people things — it was to recreate them and raise citizens for His kingdom. And the citizens in the kingdom of God are not merely invited; they are reborn.
2 Corinthians 5:17: "Whoever is in Christ Jesus, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new."
This was what Jesus was explaining to Nicodemus in John 3:1–6. Nicodemus came with credentials — a ruler of the Jews, a Pharisee, a man of learning and standing. But Jesus bypassed all of that and said: "You must be born again." Not reformed. Not educated. Born again. A completely new origin.
Kingdom citizenship is not conferred by culture, religion, or religious performance. It is granted through a supernatural rebirth — the impartation of God's own life into the spirit of the believer.
The Ambassador's Identity
An ambassador does not represent himself. He represents the one who sent him, with the full authority of that government behind him.
2 Corinthians 5:18–20: "All things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation... Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us. We pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."
The ambassador does not plead in weakness. He delivers the message of his sovereign. When God speaks through an ambassador, it carries the weight of heaven's authority. God Himself is beseeching the world through those He has sent.
This is the elevation of the believer's identity:
- Not just forgiven — but reconciled and entrusted with reconciliation
- Not just saved — but sent
- Not just benefiting from the kingdom — but representing the King
What It Means to Be Sent
Jesus, before His ascension, conferred His commission: John 20:21: "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." The same word used for how the Father sent Christ is used for how Christ sends His people.
This has profound implications:
- The Father sent Jesus with authority — you are sent with authority.
- The Father sent Jesus with the power of the Spirit — you are sent with the power of the Spirit.
- The Father sent Jesus with a clear mission — you are sent with a clear mission: the ministry of reconciliation.
Being an ambassador is not an option for mature believers. It is the foundational identity of every person who has been born again. The moment you received the new birth, you were not just saved from hell — you were enrolled into kingdom service.
The Ministry of Reconciliation
Reconciliation means the restoration of a broken relationship. God and humanity were estranged through sin. Christ's sacrifice made reconciliation possible. And the body of Christ — the assembly of ambassadors — is the instrument through which that reconciliation continues to be announced and administered.
2 Corinthians 5:19: "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation."
The word of reconciliation is not optional content for those who feel called to ministry. It is the mandate of every new creation — the message entrusted to every ambassador.
You are not just a recipient of the kingdom. You are a representative of the King. Walk accordingly. Speak accordingly. Live accordingly — for you are a kingdom ambassador.
