The Lesson from Judges 18 — No Deliverer

Judges 18:27-28 records a people who were at quiet and secure — not hurting anyone, peaceful, minding their business. Yet they were attacked, their city was burned with fire, and "there was no deliverer because they had no business with any man."

That is the secret hidden in this passage: they had no business with any man. Peaceful, correct, not hurting anyone — but because they were entirely isolated, when trouble came there was no one to intervene. The answer to your next level is often in the hands of somebody who does not yet know you exist. Sometimes forces are actively working against you before that person. Sometimes the person is angry over a past mistake. Sometimes they say they have forgiven — but they are not thinking about how to promote you and bless you.

Three Levels to Address in Prayer

The prayer of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 covers three levels:

• God — "Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed."

• Men — "Enlarge my coast and that thy hand might be with me." This is about divine coordination of human helpers.
• Forces — "Keep me from evil that it may not grieve me." This is spiritual warfare against what is blocking or grieving your progress.

When something is evil it is bad enough. But when evil begins to grieve you — when you take five steps forward and are pushed two steps back, when your success is epileptic — something spiritual is at work. Until somebody somewhere remembers you, until a door opens that is not based on charity or coincidence, you have not yet broken into the indeed blessing.

Prayer 1 — The Indeed Blessing

Jabez did not pray for ordinary blessing. He asked God to bless him indeed — the emphatic, expansive blessing that is for the kingdom, for others, and for the next level in every area of life. Not epileptic success that rises and falls. Not breakthrough that depends on someone remembering you after a long time. A ceaseless flow.

Prayer 2 — Coordinate Men to Help Me

A young lawyer had done everything right — studied hard, prayed, attended conferences — but his breakthrough was not coming. At a conference, he saw a highly connected man. He ran to him and said, "Excuse me, sir. Just change my life." The man kept walking. The young lawyer followed, still saying, "Change my life, sir." The man walked him all the way to his private office. He said, "If you fail after this walk, don't ever let me see your face again." It was a walk of destiny — not a lecture, not principles — just a hand held and a walk taken.

Immediately after leaving the office, someone approached the young lawyer with a brief worth 75 million naira. He quickly accepted.

Favour is when God coordinates men — human beings — to help you. That is the definition. Not mountains of prayer and fasting alone. Not first class results alone. Just one person, holding your hand and walking with you. One signature. One introduction. That is what changed the trajectory.

There are also destiny connectors — people who do not have what it takes to help you directly but simply connect you to the person who does. They are assigned by God for your story.

Spiritual Warfare — Against Gatekeepers

There are demonic forces that oppose people at the junction of their glory. Why would someone die the day after their convocation? Why does someone carry a pregnancy for nine months and lose it on the day of delivery? Why do peers advance while one person remains behind?

There are gatekeepers — spiritual beings whose signature, whose presence, whose words block the doors of others. They are in marriages, businesses, ministries, and careers. And they are real. Spiritual wickedness in high places.

What Favour Really Is

Favour is not just one lucky moment. Favour is an atmosphere. It is a shield. It is a protective system. It makes you not have repeated disadvantage. It makes systems work for you. It makes outcomes consistently favor you.

Luke 2:52: Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and with man. This is the model — favour that operates on both the divine and human levels simultaneously.
