Seeing a new nation

As we celebrate Nigeria's 66th independence anniversary, let us discuss seeing a new nation

Ezekiel 36:33-36

God is in the business of rebuilding cities, rebuilding lives, rebuilding families and rebuilding nations

Beyond the bad news

Our church started during military rule. It was not a funny season in our country

Some people talk about the good old days

In those days there was no national assembly, no senate, no house of representatives, no state house of assembly. We only had decrees

The head of state would show up on TV or radio and announce a new decree, and it was binding on everyone

It was normal to see soldiers in town. Thank God there was no social media. If you said anything offensive, you would find yourself in jail

When they said they wanted to return the country to democracy, they would organize the election, then cancel the election or cancel the results. That is what they did in 1993

There were protests and there were riots. It was in the midst of that our church was planted

People were still starting businesses, getting married and giving birth to children. That is very significant

There was bad news every day. But some of us saw beyond the bad news, beyond the problem

That is significant today because there is so much bad news. Technology has exploded everything

There was a time when there was no 24-hour TV. If anything happened around the world, you saw it in the newspaper the next day

Now news travels instantly all over the world. The news follows you everywhere. It is in your pocket, in your hand

I concede we are consuming more bad news than any generation in history. That is why it is important for us to discuss this

What do you see?

Jeremiah 1:11-12

The nation was also going through a bad season during Jeremiah's time. God asked him, what do you see? He saw a branch from an almond tree

God was saying that things are still growing. Some things are still working

In the midst of chaos, your own life will still be working

Right now God is looking for people to partner with. People who can see beauty in the midst of chaos

Genesis 1:1-2

However dark it may be, God is still around. However chaotic it may be, God is still around. The Holy Spirit was brooding

Who you look for is who you see

Some of us are primed to see the devil. Anywhere, devil, devil, devil, because that is who we are looking for. In every situation, look for God and you will see God

• I see a glorious future for myself
• I see a glorious future for my family

2 Corinthians 3:18

What you see is what you become

We are seeing the glory of God, the beauty of God, the richness of God, and we are changed into the same image from one level of glory to the other

You will never be stranded again in the mighty name of Jesus Christ

Seeing on two levels

At one level, I see glory for myself

But the purpose of your life is more than having a nice house to rent, or building a nice house, owning two cars, having a nice family, having enough food to eat and living quietly

Life is more than that. Here in this house we say, your life is too small to be the purpose of your life

All those investments God made inside you, the talents and the gifts, they are not for you

Purpose must always turn outward. It must be other centered

So we upgrade the prayer. We see on the personal level, the organizational level, the local level, the national level and the global level

• I see a glorious future for you, for your family
• I see a glorious future for your career, for your business
• I see a glorious future for Nigeria
• This prophecy of God in Ezekiel 36 will be fulfilled for us. Our cities will become like the garden of Eden
• Rapid development is coming to this country in the mighty name of Jesus

Choose those who can see

Matthew 15:14

It is time for the blind to stand aside. Let those who can see provide the leadership

The elections are not far away. If you cannot see a glorious future for yourself, be collecting bags of rice and some small change

But for those of us who can see, we cannot be led by those who cannot see. When you are looking for who to choose to lead you, choose those who can see

How to see well

1. Learn to pray

   Jeremiah 33:3

   If you pray and what you are seeing is revenge, the failure of another person because they hurt you, you dialed the wrong number. That is not heaven's number

   If it is the destruction of Satan and demons, fine Luke 10:18-19. That is good sight

   But to be seeing evil for other people, that is not love

2. Practice gratitude

   You cannot be saying thank you, thank you Lord, and be seeing negative things

3. Look in the word of God

   2 Corinthians 3:18

   You will find your destiny in the word of God

4. Hang around people who can see

   Proverbs 13:20

Open eyes

2 Kings 6:13 to 2 Kings 6:17

The servant of Elisha came out and saw soldiers that came to arrest them. The young man screamed, "My master, what shall we do?"

Elisha came out, saw the same scenario and said, "Calm down. Fear not"

The young man was confused. Elisha then prayed. He did not pray against the enemy. He prayed for the young man: Lord, open his eyes that he may see

• Receive the miracle of open eyes
• However chaotic it may become in your organization, your neighborhood, your city, your nation, you will not see evil
• By the help of the Holy Spirit, you will see possibilities
• Where others see obstacles, you will see the potential for miracles
• Where others see barriers, you will see a way
• Where they see scarcity, you will see abundance

I declare you will never be stranded again the rest of your life

At the point you need to make a decision, the Holy Spirit will open your eyes. You will see the way to go

The cycle of failure is broken

Whatever has been limiting the progress of our nation has lost control over your destiny and over your life

It is vision that makes a leader. I prophesy your promotion, your change of status. I label you leader in the mighty name of Jesus

Shifts are happening on your behalf right now

What blocks our inner eyes

The biggest problem is sin. It is the nature of sin. Every human being is born with it

That is why God sent His Son to be sacrificed on the cross, because the wages of sin is death Romans 6:23

You cannot have a new Nigeria without new Nigerians. Nigerians that can see

You cannot have a new Africa except you have people with vision who can see differently

You can have your own spiritual independence

• Dear God, I believe that Jesus paid for my sins
• I ask You to forgive me and to accept me as Your child, in Jesus name

• Heavenly Father, thank You for everyone who said this prayer
• The nature of sin has been removed from them
• The Holy Spirit has now put Your nature in them
• Teach them to know You personally, teach them to love You and to love other people the rest of their lives, in Jesus name

Jesus said there is joy among the angels over one sinner that repents Luke 15:10

That is the greatest miracle of this independence
