Every Excuse Is Already in the Book

"I'm just a businessman" is no excuse — Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were entrepreneurs. They dealt in real estate and livestock. They had strong prophetic advantages, but they were businessmen. "I'm just an ordinary person" is no excuse either — look at how long it took God to persuade Moses, who kept giving excuses: "I stammer. Who am I? Who should I say sent me?" Even his reluctance is recorded in Scripture, and even God's anger at the reluctance. Every excuse you have is already in the book — and has already been answered.

Jeremiah said he was too young. Timothy thought he was too young — Paul told him, "Let no one despise your youth." The Ethiopian eunuch was a government treasurer. Cornelius was military. Luke was a medical doctor who leveraged his academic training to write the longest gospel and the book of Acts.

Everything you thought disqualifies you — that may be the very reason God wants you.

There Is No Disciple Without a Discipline

Many people treat going to church like a school programme they never intend to graduate from. But you are going to church to learn so that you can minister. Every child of God is a minister of the gospel. Not everyone will hold a microphone every Sunday — but every child of God is a minister.

Ordination should confirm ministry, not create it. In Acts 6, the apostles told the church to "look from among you, men full of the Spirit and of faith" — because before ordination, there was already ministry. No one lights a candle and puts it under a basket.

Ministry Develops the Anointing

There is a dimension of your walk with God you will never touch if you don't allow God to use you. There is a level of spiritual development you will never see. The anointing is a muscle — you can have it and it not be exercised.

Hebrews 5:14: "Those who by reason of use have exercised themselves." The more you do the work, the more capable you become. You don't perform optimally at the gym the first time you go — just keep at it.

• You will never fully know how anointed you are until you walk in your calling
• Spiritual lethargy is often the result of having no outlet for ministry
• Weapons are not for civilians — you have to get to the work to know what you're capable of

Equipped to Work — Not Just to Know

Ephesians 4:11-14: "He gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers — for equipping the saints for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ." Every saint is to be equipped for ministry. That is why you are trained. Not just so that you know.

God can use you. Stop running away. Be excellent in what God has given you — and God who sees in secret will reward you openly.
