The Real Purpose of Life

Pastor Benny Hinn made a remarkable statement at the Thanksgiving service: the purpose of life is knowing Jesus Christ. Consider history's great men and women — the great monarchs of the past, kingdoms, empires. Where are they now? Where are their works? Everything else fades away. But Jesus Christ — that is what lasts. That is what is for eternity.

The earth is a stage where men and women are actors and actresses, with entrances and exits — except that this drama is so different from every other drama. It is drama for eternity, drama for reality. That script is written by God. Our purpose in life is to discover that script, find our role, and play it correctly. The real purpose of life is Jesus Christ. That is what lasts. That is what is for eternity. If you hold that thought dear to your heart, it will help you in making choices in life and in building your spirit.

Prioritise the Word of God

Prioritise the Word of God. There is no other way to live but to live by it. This becomes even more important as we draw nearer and nearer to the coming of the Lord. When Jesus comes, he is only going to be looking at how you lived the Word. He said the Word will judge. If the Word will be the judge and the Word is given to us to live by, and we have the ability to live by the Word — is it not clear that is what we should rather do?

So put your life there. Make the effort to know the Word for your life so you can live it. Otherwise, life is empty. Make a personal determination to prioritise God's Word and live by it.

The 2025 Mandate and What Comes Next

The mandate for 2025 was to complete the preaching of the gospel to all nations by year's end. The gospel has been disseminated in ways unprecedented — in a way that most people never thought possible. Even those who argued against the message went preaching it anyway. What always must be remembered is that God has put in every human being a light to guide him. John 1:9 — this is the true light that lights every man that comes into the world. Even in the midst of deception, there is the possibility to discover truth. You can only be deceived when you let yourself be deceived.

On 31st December, a major global outreach will sweep throughout the world. It is a huge opportunity to reach a hungry world. At that time of year, many are making decisions and the hearts of men are prepared. Don't miss the opportunity. I pray that the Lord will give you strategies and ideas on what to do — irrespective of the city or nation where you live — divine strategies that will help you fulfill his will.

2026: A Countdown Begins

2026 is the year that begins a countdown. It is important that God's people realise where the world is going and what will be happening. There is a choice in the spirit:

  • Either we begin praying more than we ever prayed before — by choice, because we love the Lord and want to do what he told us to do.
  • Or we will be made to pray more than we ever prayed before by circumstances.

Years ago, there was a flight from Johannesburg to Lagos. The moment was unusually uncomfortable in spirit — unusually uncomfortable. A check on the weather showed nothing unusual. Then, while on the knees, the Lord spoke two things: go earlier than scheduled, and — this is one flight in which you will be praying.

When the plane took off, the wind collected it immediately. The plane went sideways, then carried up — like paper in the air, left, right, up, down. The engines were revving at full capacity. There was no other option but to speak in tongues and pray powerfully. We prayed and prayed and prayed. The Lord had said: continue the praying until there was no need to pray. The pilots said later that had we left at the scheduled time, we would not have been able to leave South African airspace — the weather was the worst in 90 years. Buildings were destroyed.

When the Lord says you are going to pray more than ever before, make a decision whether you are going to pray by choice or by circumstances. The Lord has already told us: men ought always to pray and not to faint. Don't be pushed by circumstances into prayer. Make the decision, start having your prayer plan now. Don't wait.

Lord, give me strategies and ideas on what to do — irrespective of the city or nation where I live. Divine strategies that will help me fulfill your will.

Inspiring Quote

Sermon

"One symptom of backsliding is that you begin to look down on the simple things that keep you on fire, calling a devotional 'just milk.' It's not about the information, it's about the consistency."
