Three Kinds of Life

When the Bible talks about life in the Greek, the word "life" does not mean the same thing in all contexts. There are three distinct words:

• Bios — biological existence. Your physical, animal life and everything pertaining to it: food, health, material wellbeing. The word behind "biology." When the parable of the sower speaks of thorns choking the word with "cares and riches and pleasures of life," the Greek word is bios. It is also the word in 1 John 2:16 — "the pride of life."
• Psyche (Suk) — soulish life. Your mind, will, and emotions. Your personality, desires, and ambitions. The self-centered dimension. Matthew 16:25: "Whoever saves his suk shall lose it. Whoever loses his suk for my sake shall find it." It is the part of you that undergoes education — developed in school, formed by experience.
• Zoe — the divine life of God. Not just a longer life — a fundamentally superior quality of life with entirely different potentialities.

These first two dimensions receive significant investment, intentionally or not. Some people have never gone twenty-four hours without eating. Most have spent years in formal education. But there is a third dimension that many scarcely pay attention to.

Nicodemus and the Kingdom

Nicodemus did not come to Jesus for theology training. He came because he saw results. "No man can do these things except God be with him." He came inquisitive about how this man could operate at such a high dimension.

Jesus replied: "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." The kingdom of God is not somewhere you escape to from hell. It is a realm with different potentialities — one that finds expression in the practical aspects of your life.

When you see a storm and respond with fear, and Jesus wakes from sleep and rebukes you for it — calling you faithless — he must be working from a different economy, or he is simply being cruel. He expected his disciples to operate from a different realm. That same expectation now applies to you.

Being in God changes your experience. There is a realm where these things are normal.

Philip used his suk to calculate why feeding five thousand people was impossible — it would require a month's wage times twelve. But Jesus, speaking from Zoe, gave an instruction: "Feed them." With men it is impossible. With God, nothing is impossible.

The Third Dimension

In Bible days, the great Egyptian and Babylonian kings had something in common: they used divination to make major economic and governance decisions. They invited Daniel into the cabinet not just because he was pious, but because he operated in a realm that gave him superior intelligence. The real moves are made before they go public. There are dimensions of operation the masses never tap into.

You can be making every decision from your suk — looking at the news, counting your network, calculating your limitations — and God is saying, "Feed them." Or you can live from Zoe: "If the Spirit of him that raised Christ from the dead dwells in your mortal body, he that raised up Jesus from the dead shall also give life to your mortal body by the same Spirit that dwells in you."

When the doctor speaks about your health, he speaks from suk about your bios. But you can speak from Zoe about your bios. That is a different economy. That is what Jesus was pointing Nicodemus toward.

What Does It Profit a Man?

Jesus throws a challenge in financial terms: what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? Take all the money in the United States, United Kingdom, Russia — all the gold mines, diamond mines, oil wells, liquidated and credited to a single account. Jesus is saying your soul is worth more than all of it.

The person making that statement had such control in this world that when he needed resources, he knew exactly what to do — there was no panic.

Whatever the devil tempts you with gives you an estimation of your value. Even if you didn't know your worth — if he is willing to offer you all the kingdoms of the world, it is because they will soon be under your feet. Don't fall for it.

In 3 John 2, the word says: "I wish above all things that you prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers." What legitimizes every other success in your life is the prosperity of your soul. You must only seek success that will not inhibit the prosperity of your soul. Whatever makes you too busy to nourish yourself spiritually — that thing is working against the most important dimension of your life.

Three Dimensions Zoe Manifests

Zoe can remain dormant if you don't stir it up:

• Wisdom. When God imparts supernatural wisdom, it is not capital in the natural realm. It is a knowing you cannot explain. There are things known in prayer — spot-on direction, who to walk with, what to do — sometimes entire pages of clarity received in a single session. The inspiration of the Almighty gives understanding. There are decisions made, songs received, strategies downloaded, not from study alone but from communion. Wisdom is the principal thing — get it.
• Impartation. A prophet came to David's house and poured oil on his head. For thirteen years after that anointing, nothing seemed to happen — and then everything aligned: the lion, the bear, the precise moment Goliath came out bragging. Supernatural chance. Anointing opens doors to opportunities that only that anointed person is qualified for. The permutations of the spirit are complex and hidden — but they are real.
• Prophecy. The spirit in man can hear ahead of time. You can receive word of knowledge for your family, your city, your assignment — before it goes public. A man of God heard something at a ministers' conference: "If this is done consistently for three years, it will change the body of Christ." That is Zoe speaking into the future.

You Have Untapped Resources

In 2009, an IT developer mined thousands of bitcoins when they were still obscure. He stored the private keys on a hard drive, then in a routine cleanup threw the hard drive away. When bitcoin surged, the value of what he had lost access to was $500 million. He didn't lose the bitcoin — he lost access to it.

That is the case of many believers. There is something in your possession of inestimable value that you have not discerned. So Jesus says, "Feed them" — not to mock you, but because you have capacity you do not know of. He says, "Feed them," and he himself already knows what to do.

Maybe the way you have planned for your marriage, your children, your church, your career — has been entirely from suk. Looking at the economics, looking at the news, counting the waves. There is a genius you have not tapped into. There are results in your life tied to an anointing, a word spoken, an impartation received — waiting for the kairos moment.

In the 1860s in Northern Cape Town, fishermen kept finding white shiny stones. Children used them as toys. Those white shiny stones were diamonds. In a civilization that only knew fishing and farming, they made toys of inestimable value.

Train your spirit. The enemy will do everything to distract you. Prioritize your soul. The life of God in you makes a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. You are thoroughly furnished with wisdom and power. You have resources you have not yet accessed. Feed them.
