The fundamental doctrines of the faith part 1 (the things most surely believed)
By Apostle Joshua Selman

The house of the Lord has a unique capture of God’s presence, wisdom and power

Psalm 84:7

Hebrew 10:38

Obtain grace to be consistent.

When it has to do with the dealings of the kingdom, distance is not a barrier

Matthew 8:9&13

There are layers of spiritual realities that are imparted on your spirit beyond words.

The difference between a lecture or a sound theological dissertation and the ministry of the spirit is that presence factor - you are receiving beyond a lecture, beyond theology, there is a layer of spiritual reality that words, music cannot capture.

When it has to do with the teaching of the word, there’s only so much your intellect can do, but your comfort is the fact that the Holy spirit, moving passed the layer of your mind, correcting rebuilding, making, reworking, remolding, programming, re-arranging, re-aligning. So you leave with a heightened sense of consciousness, your vessel purified and expanded to be a host more of God and to do more for His kingdom.

There is a gross deficiency of doctrine in the body of Christ.

If your conviction is not founded on sound doctrine, a time will come soon enough, you will begin to doubt everything that represents the pillars of your faith.

Luke 1:1 - 4

The word doctrine comes from the Latin word "doctrina", meaning a set of believe that are communicated to the student, to the end that student becomes like his master.

11 fundamental doctrines that are the anchor of the christian faith

  1. The infallibility(not subject to correction) of the word of God
  2. The doctrine of God - understanding the nature of God
  3. The subject of man, man from his creation to the fall
  4. Jesus Christ, His person, His ministry and His assignment
  5. The doctrine of salvation and sanctification
  6. The holy spirit, His person and His ministry
  7. The church
  8. Satan - Demons and around
  9. Angels - Who are they?
  10. The believers growth system - the ministry of prayer, word, the cooperate gathering of the saints…
  11. Our corporate mandate

No believer will be effective in the kingdom if you are not grounded on these anchors

The infallibility(not subject to correction) of the word of God

This is the first foundational doctrine of the saints.

Before you even begin to explore the person, God, you need to explore God’s recommended resource for learning Him.

Why is the bible so important?

The bible as an inspired resource that contains the revelation of God, is the most accurate revelation of God that has been scripted and given to man

In summary, the bible is the most accurate scripted resource that reveals God to man

There are certain words that are not written directly in the bible, however the communication that relates to those words are scattered across scriptures.

Examples of such words include: bible, trinity and others…

The word bible is from the greek word, "biblios" - it means book

The word scripture simply means writing - whether inspired or uninspired.

The infallibility of scriptures is not in its historic, intellectual, archaeological or linguistic accuracy, but in its ability to accurately reveal God, Jesus Christ, man’s sinful condition and his need for a savior, and then God’s salvation plan.

Luke 4:18

The bible has 3 layers of revelation:

  1. The historic and archeological layer - The bible has a rich capture of history

    Matthew 1:1

  2. The bible has a doctrinal layer

  3. The prophetic layer of revelation - by the illumination of the spirit, you can draw wisdom from any chapter, any verse that applies to your life and gain victory from it.

Staying on any of these layers alone has consequences, it is important that you must engage scripture at all 3 layers to profit from it maximally.

2 Timothy 3:7

Ephesians 3:5

There is a slight difference between the bible, scripture and the word of God

The bible is a compendium of 66 separate, yet related books, written by over 40 authors over a period of 1600 years from men and women who cut across various works of life.

From a theological standpoint, the bible is broadly divided in 2, the old testament 39 books and the new testament 27 books.

The 39 books of the Bible are broken into:

The Pentateuch/ The Torah (which are the five books of Moses), The historic books, The poetic books and the prophetic books (major and minor prophets)

When we talk about scriptures(writings), the difference between the scriptures in that bible and other scriptures is that the scriptures in the bible are called holy scriptures

2 Timothy 3:15 - 16

Also called the oracles of God

Hebrews 5:12

The word of God refers to 2 things

  1. The word of God refers to Jesus - the living word, the living logos(the thoughts of God)

    John 1:1

  2. The word of God refers to the thoughts of God in a material form
  3. The living word is revealed in scripture(the written word) and vice versa

    John 5:39 - 40

The scripture on it’s on does not give you life but leads you to the living word(Jesus)

Listen to the message “The ministry of light(the journey beyond salvation)”

Factors that prove the reliability of the word of God

    1. 40 different men writing 66 books in about 3 languages over a period of 1600 years and then having their thoughts and their writings unified in 1 book with a progressive revelation of God, Jesus Christ and Salvation cannot be a coincidence.

    2. The fulfillment of prophecies

      Matthew 3:3

      Isaiah 40:3

      Matthew 2:17-18

      Matthew 4:15

      Acts 2:1

      Acts 2:15-17

The word inspiration means “God breathe”

      2 Timothy 3:16

The word inspire means: made to document the way God wanted it - not necessarily that the information was consistent with God’s will, but that God enforced that it be written down.

All scriptures being inspired by God is not referring to the correctness of the statement, that regardless who spoke, God allowed it to be written - nothing was a mistake

Every other inspiration to write any spiritual material, by any spiritual man who is a practitioner of the faith-life, but fails to make reference to scripture, should be discarded as heretic.

      2 Timothy 3:15

There are 3 blessings that come as final authority over your life

When you exalt the word of God as infallible and true

    1. , it becomes an instrument of renewal and transformationRomans 12:2
    2. The word of God gives the believer access to the wisdom of God

      2 Timothy 3:15

      Colossians 3:16

    3. Access to the knowledge of God and the promises of scriptures

      1 John 5:13

    4. It is written that you may know it, and If you don’t know it, you cannot believe it, you cannot obey it and if you don’t obey it, it will not produce.

Build your life on the word

    The revelation of God

The bible doesn’t trying to prove the existence of God, it declares He exists

The bible describes God as the almighty

The bible defines God as the eternal self existent one

You can’t receive anything from a God you don’t know exist

    Hebrew 11:6

Creation is the most visible explanation or verification of the existence of God - Romans 1:20

    6 attributes that define God

    1. God is eternal - man partakes of eternity, but is not eternal(it means one without a beginning or end)

      Exodus 3:14

      Genesis 21:33

      1 Timothy 1:17

      Revelation 1:8

    2. God is self existent - He does not owe or derive His existence from another, He does not depend another factor to sustain Him

      John 5:26

      John 1:14

    3. God is immutable - He is consistent/unchanging in His character

      James 1:17

      Psalm 33:11

      Malachi 3:6

    4. God is omnipotent - all powerful

      Revelations 19:6

      Hebrew 1:1-3

    5. God is omniscient - there is no possibility of anything to exist without the frame of His knowledge

      Hebrew 4:13

    6. Omnipresence - Is not affected by time and space

      Psalm 139:7 - 12
