The Fundamental Doctrines of Faith part 3 - The Riches of His Grace
By Apostle Joshua Selman
2 Corinthians 3:18
Transformation is difficult without a reference, until and unless you have a reference(a physical reference or a mental picture) something to hold onto as an anchor; it will give you the staying power to continue in that process of transition - no matter how uncomfortable it is.
The vision of the people we are becoming at Koinonia
- We are building a spiritually vibrant people
- We are building a people of power - thoroughly furnished, that the holy spirit can live out the excellency of his virtues in and through your life
- We seek to build a people who are enlightened and transformed
- A people who are highly anointed Acts 4:33
-
A responsible and purpose driven people - There is an end to your pursuit. Your pursuit is ultimately to glorify the Lord, but whilst you are doing that, God demands that through the excellency of the communication you receive week in week out, you demonstrate lives of dominion, victory and power Hebrew 10:7
-
We are building agents of societal transformation Matthew 5:15 - 16 - an apostolic community that can influence society and culture.
IF your christian experience profits you alone in your nuclear understanding you are not doing much, you have to be able to penetrate systems and structures and shine the light.
Weapons that help the believer to become light and salt
- Wisdom
- Intelligence
- Power creativity, influence
-
A people who are fulfilled - there is a difference between being successful and fulfilled.
Make reference to the teaching What seekest thou
Success by its definition has to do with achieving goals - that largely has to do with dispensing value to others
Fulfilment is the satisfaction derived from knowing that you have lived your life effectively - serving the purpose of the kingdom and glorifying the Lord with your life 2 Timothy 4:7
The teaching ministry has a four fold assignment
- The first assignment is to help believers accurately know the Father and Jesus Christ His son John 17:3, Jeremiah 9:24 - We become expressions of Him that we know 2 Corinthians 3:28
- To help to believers understand the bible, especially the doctrinal pillars of the Christian faith thereby attaining unto maturity and statureLuke 1:1-4, 1 Timothy 3:15-17
- To help believers gain spiritual intelligence by unveiling to them the mysteries of the kingdom Matthew 13:11, 2 Peter 1:4
- To help believers apply and translate kingdom truths to produce a life of fruitfulness, victory, dominion and purpose
No matter what you learn, if you are not left with the point of application, it will not profit you. The teaching ministry does not just expose you to the truth available, it trains you to use truth as a weapon and with it command victoryDaniel 11:32, Job 38:33, 1 Peter 1:2

Salvation
The study of Salvation in Theology is Soteriology
What is salvation?
Salvation comes from the greek word Soteria(coming from the greek word soter meaning savior)
The word Soteria is a complex word that carries the idea of deliverance, safety, restoration, wholeness.
But within the context of our discussion, we narrow it down to mean man’s deliverance from sin and its consequences; eternal damnation being the greatest of them
Acts 16
The victory of christ was over 7 major things
- Sin
- Satan
- Death
- The grave
- Hell
- Flesh
- The world
The system of appropriating that victory differ
For instance when you are new believer in christ, the sin problem is solved, but the flesh problem isn’t. The flesh problem will require you working and dying daily - in theology it is called progressive sanctification.
Salvation captures the whole plan of God for the rescue and restoration of man John 3:16, John 3:36, John 10:10, Ephesians 1:3-8, Ephesians 2:4-10, 1 Peter 1:3-5
What are we saved from?

There 9 greek words that are translated Sin

Salvation is only for man
How are we saved?
We are saved by believing the gospel alongside all the blessings that come with it through faith in Jesus ChristJohn 3:17, Romans 10:8-10
The Gospel
The gospel is from the greek word “Euangelion” - It means good news, it means glad tidings Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 15:1 - 8
4 elements to the gospel
- Man’s original state
- The fall of man and the consequence of that fall
- The revelation of Jesus alongside redemption
- Man’s response to this gift
God created man in His image and His likeness.Genesis 1:26 - 28
1 Timothy 2:14
2 Corinthians 11:3
Ezekiel 18:20&23
What man lost as result of the fall
- Life of God
- Righteousness
- Capacity for dominion

- The passion of the christ - a capture of his suffering
- His death
- His burial
- His descent into hades
2 Peter 1:4
5 blessings captured in the gospel
- The message of the gospel captures within it the love of the father revealed through Jesus - love is the cure to fear1 John 4:18, Romans 5:1, Phillipians 4:6
and then Peace with God(The wall of partition is broken, he is not mad at you) Romans 5:1 and peace of God(An atmosphere, a reality planted in your spirit where nothing disturbs)Phillipians 4:16
The news is good because you could not help yourself
- Reconciliation 2 Corinthians 5:18&19
- Salvation Acts 4:12
- Deliverance Colossians 1:13
- Dominion Romans 5:17
The teaching ministry is suppose to help you gradually get into the capacity to be indomitable.
But whether it is captured in your life, it remains a fact captured in God’s word that you have been given access to reign in life.
The gospel is the revelation of the father’s love demonstrated in and through the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus - Man and creation being that object intended to be affected.
The only way to be reconciled to the father, the only way to be set free from the consequence of sin is to accept this gift, the wholesome gift of His substitutionary sacrifice.
That when he died, he did not die for himself, when he was buried he had you in mind, when he said it was finished he had you in mind, when he said it was finished, he had you and I in mind. When he resurrected by the Glory of the Father it was for your justification. And now that he is exalted as Lord and Christ and he has taken you with Him in the spirit and has made you sit with Him Christ and that if you believe that gospel and place your faith as frail as scattered as your life may be but if you believe an instant a miracle happens in your spirit:
- Your sins are forgiven
- You receive that imputation of God’s righteousness
- You have access by the spirit to His life(Zoe)
When you come into the kingdom, you take advantage of the grace of God and produce the works and fruits of righteousness - at that point it is not by your power. Eternal life comes with an anointing within you that produces christ like character and then the engracing of God sponsored by spiritual intelligence, then you know you have a role to play(sacrifice, surrender, consecration, pressing to know and serve Him more)
Vessels differ due to sacrifices but status is the same(God loves all equally no matter what any does)Romans 10:12
